Шукайте Господа, і житимете; інакше він кинеться, немов вогонь, на дім Йосифа і пожере його, і нікому буде в Бетелі його гасити.
О ви, що обертаєте у полин правосуддя і що кидаєте на землю справедливість!

Той, що творить Косаря та Квочку, перемінює темряву на ранок, а з дня робить ніч темну; що кличе води моря і на поверхню землі їх розливає, — Господь, ім'я йому!

Бо я знаю, яка їх безліч — тих переступів ваших, і які великі гріхи і ваші; ви, що утискаєте праведника, що берете викуп, і відпихаєте убогого при брамі!
Therefore he who is prudent will keep silent in such a time,

Тому так каже Господь, Бог сил, Адонай: «По всіх майданах лемент буде, і по всіх вулицях будуть кричати: Леле, леле! Плугатаря закличуть до жалоби, до плачу — тих, що вміють пісень похоронних.

Горе вам, що прагнете дня Господнього! Навіщо вам той день Господній? Він — темрява, не світло!

Мені осоружні, мені обридли ваші свята; ваші врочисті збори мені не довподоби.

Хоч ви мені й принесете всепалення та ваші хлібні жертви, я їх не прийму. На ваші мирні жертви з годованого скоту я й не погляну.
