Darby Bible Translation

  • “On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.
  • An End to Idolatry

    In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness.
  • Idolatry Cut Off

    “And on that day, declares the Lord of hosts, I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, so that they shall be remembered no more. And also I will remove from the land the prophets and the spirit of uncleanness.
  • And it shall come to pass in that day, saith Jehovah of hosts, [that] I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered; and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
  • And if anyone again prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not live, for you speak lies in the name of the Lord.’ And his father and mother who bore him shall pierce him through when he prophesies.
  • And it shall come to pass, if any shall yet prophesy, that his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of Jehovah; and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
  • “On that day every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he prophesies. He will not put on a hairy cloak in order to deceive,
  • And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he prophesieth; neither shall they wear a hairy mantle to deceive.
  • but he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a worker of the soil, for a man sold me in my youth.’a
  • And he shall say, I am no prophet, I am a tiller of the ground; for man acquired me [as bondman] from my youth.
  • And if one asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your back?’b he will say, ‘The wounds I received in the house of my friends.’
  • And one shall say unto him, What are those wounds in thy hands? And he will say, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
  • The Shepherd Struck

    “Awake, O sword, against my shepherd,
    against the man who stands next to me,”
    declares the Lord of hosts.
    “Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;
    I will turn my hand against the little ones.
  • The Shepherd Struck, Sheep Scattered

    Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, even against the man [that is] my fellow, saith Jehovah of hosts: smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered, and I will turn my hand upon the little ones.
  • In the whole land, declares the Lord,
    two thirds shall be cut off and perish,
    and one third shall be left alive.
  • And it shall come to pass in all the land, saith Jehovah, two parts therein shall be cut off [and] die; but the third shall be left therein.
  • And I will put this third into the fire,
    and refine them as one refines silver,
    and test them as gold is tested.
    They will call upon my name,
    and I will answer them.
    I will say, ‘They are my people’;
    and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”
  • And I will bring the third part into the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will answer them: I will say, It is my people; and they shall say, Jehovah is my God.
