Jesus Cleanses a Leper

When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.

1

Коли Ісус зійшов з гори, за Ним пішов великий натовп.

And behold, a lepera came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”

2

І ось прокажений, прийшовши, кланявся Йому й говорив: Господи, коли хочеш, Ти можеш мене очистити.

3

And Jesusb stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

[Ісус], простягнувши руку, доторкнувся до нього, кажучи: Хочу, стань чистим! — і він вмить очистився від прокази.

4

And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”

А Ісус йому каже: Дивися, нікому не розповідай, але йди, покажися священикові та принеси дар, який наказав Мойсей [у Законі] на свідчення їм.

The Faith of a Centurion

When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him,

“Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.”

і промовляючи: Господи, слуга мій лежить вдома паралізований, тяжко мучиться.

And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

7

[Ісус] йому каже: Я піду й оздоровлю його.

8

But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.

У відповідь сотник сказав: Господи, я не достойний, щоб Ти ввійшов під мій дах, але тільки скажи слово, — і мій слуга одужає.

9

For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant,c ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

Тому що і я людина під владою, і в себе маю воїнів; кажу цьому: Іди! — і йде; іншому: Прийди! — і приходить; моєму рабові: Зроби це! — і робить.

When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israeld have I found such faith.

А Ісус, коли почув, здивувався і сказав тим, які йшли за Ним: Запевняю вас: ні в кого в Ізраїлі не знайшов Я стільки віри.

11

I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,

Кажу вам, що багато хто прийде зі сходу й заходу і сяде з Авраамом, Ісааком та Яковом у Царстві Небесному,

while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

13

And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

А сотникові Ісус сказав: Іди, нехай буде тобі так, як ти повірив. І його слуга тієї ж миті одужав.

14

Jesus Heals Many

And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.

Коли Ісус прийшов до хати Петра, то побачив його тещу, яка лежала в гарячці;

15

He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.

15

Він доторкнувся до її руки, — і гарячка покинула її; вона встала й служила Йому.

16

That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.

А як звечоріло, привели до Нього багатьох біснуватих, і Він словом вигнав духів та зцілив усіх хворих,

17

This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

щоби збулося сказане через пророка Ісаю, який говорив: Він узяв наші недуги і поніс хвороби.

The Cost of Following Jesus

Now when Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side.

Коли Ісус побачив навколо Себе багато народу, то наказав [учням] відплисти на другий бік.

19

And a scribe came up and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

19

Підійшов один книжник і сказав Йому: Учителю, я йтиму за Тобою, куди б Ти не йшов.

20

And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”

20

Ісус же йому каже: Лисиці мають нори, небесні птахи — гнізда, а Син Людський не має, де голови прихилити.

21

Another of the disciples said to him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”

21

А інший з Його учнів сказав Йому: Господи, дозволь мені спершу піти й поховати свого батька.

22

And Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

22

Та Ісус каже йому: Йди за Мною і залиши мертвим ховати своїх мерців.

23

Jesus Calms a Storm

And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him.

23

Як увійшов Він до човна, за Ним пішли Його учні.

24

And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep.

24

І ось здійнялася велика буря на морі, аж хвилі заливали човен, а Він спав.

25

And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.”

25

Підійшовши, [Його учні] розбудили Його, кажучи: Господи, рятуй, гинемо!

26

And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

26

А Він каже їм: Чого боїтеся, маловіри? Тоді Він устав і наказав вітрам та морю, — і настала велика тиша.

27

And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

А люди дивувалися й говорили: Хто Він такий, що й вітри, і море Йому підкоряються?

28

Jesus Heals Two Men with Demons

And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gadarenes,e two demon-possessedf men met him, coming out of the tombs, so fierce that no one could pass that way.

28

Коли Він прибув на той бік, у землю Гадаринську, зустріли Його два біснуваті, які вийшли з гробниць; вони були дуже люті, так що ніхто не міг перейти тією дорогою.

29

And behold, they cried out, “What have you to do with us, O Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”

29

І ось, вони закричали, гукаючи: Що Тобі до нас, [Ісусе], Сину Божий? Чи не прийшов Ти сюди, щоби передчасно нас мучити?

30

Now a herd of many pigs was feeding at some distance from them.

30

На віддалі від них паслося велике стадо свиней.

31

And the demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of pigs.”

31

Біси попросили Його: Якщо виганяєш нас, то пошли нас у стадо свиней.

32

And he said to them, “Go.” So they came out and went into the pigs, and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the waters.

32

І сказав їм: Ідіть! Вони ж, вийшовши, увійшли у свиней. І ось, усе стадо кинулося з кручі в море й потонуло у воді.

33

The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men.

А пастухи втекли і, прибігши до міста, сповістили про все і про біснуватих.

34

And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

34

І ось усе місто вийшло назустріч Ісусові й, побачивши Його, благали, щоб Він залишив їхні околиці.
