Moses’ Final Blessing on Israel

This is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the people of Israel before his death.

1

А оце благослове́ння, яким поблагословив Ізраїлевих синів Мойсей, чоловік Божий, перед своєю смертю,

He said,
“The Lord came from Sinai
and dawned from Seir upon us;a
he shone forth from Mount Paran;
he came from the ten thousands of holy ones,
with flaming fireb at his right hand.

та й сказав: „Госпо́дь від Сіна́ю прибув, і зійшов від Сеї́ру до них, появився у світлі з Пара́ну гори, і прийшов із Мері́ви Каде́шу. По прави́ці Його — огонь Зако́ну для них.

Yes, he loved his people,c
all his holy ones were in hisd hand;
so they followede in your steps,
receiving direction from you,

Теж наро́ди Він любить. Всі святії його́ — у руці Твоїй, і вони припада́ють до ніг Твоїх, слухають мови Твоєї.

when Moses commanded us a law,
as a possession for the assembly of Jacob.

Дав Мойсей нам Зако́на, спа́дщину зборові Якова.

Thus the Lordf became king in Jeshurun,
when the heads of the people were gathered,
all the tribes of Israel together.

І був Він царем в Єшуру́ні, як наро́днії голови ра́зом збирались, племе́на Ізра́їлеві.

“Let Reuben live, and not die,
but let his men be few.”

Руви́м хай живе, і нехай не помре, і число люду його нехай буде велике“.

And this he said of Judah:
“Hear, O Lord, the voice of Judah,
and bring him in to his people.
With your hands contendg for him,
and be a help against his adversaries.”

А це про Юду. І він сказав: „Почуй, Господи, голосу Юди, і до наро́ду його Ти впрова́диш його. Йому воюва́тимуть ру́ки його, а Ти будеш поміч йому на його ворогів“.

And of Levi he said,
“Give to Levih your Thummim,
and your Urim to your godly one,
whom you tested at Massah,
with whom you quarreled at the waters of Meribah;

А про Левія сказав: „Твій туммі́м і твій урі́м — для чоловіка святого Тво́го, що його Ти був ви́пробував у Массі, що суперечку з ним мав над водою Мері́ви,

9

who said of his father and mother,
‘I regard them not’;
he disowned his brothers
and ignored his children.
For they observed your word
and kept your covenant.

що каже про батька свого та про матір свою: „Не бачив тебе“, що братів своїх не пізнає́, і не знає синів своїх, — бо доде́ржують слова Твого, і вони заповіту Твого стережу́ть.

10

They shall teach Jacob your rules
and Israel your law;
they shall put incense before you
and whole burnt offerings on your altar.

Навчають вони про права́ Твої Якова, а про Зако́на Твойого — Ізра́їля, приносять кадило Тобі та на же́ртівник Твій цілопа́лення.

11

Bless, O Lord, his substance,
and accept the work of his hands;
crush the loins of his adversaries,
of those who hate him, that they rise not again.”

Поблагослови його силу, о Господи, а чин його рук уподо́бай Собі. Поламай сте́гна тим, що стають проти нього, та не́нависть мають на нього, — щоб більш не повстали вони!“

12

Of Benjamin he said,
“The beloved of the Lord dwells in safety.
The High Godi surrounds him all day long,
and dwells between his shoulders.”

Про Веніямина сказав: „Він Господній улю́бленець, перебуває безпечно при Ньо́му, а Він окриває його ці́лий день і в раме́нах Його спочиває“.

13

And of Joseph he said,
“Blessed by the Lord be his land,
with the choicest gifts of heaven above,j
and of the deep that crouches beneath,

А про Йо́сипа він сказав: „Благословенний від Господа край Його дара́ми з неба, з роси та з безодні, що долі лежить,

14

with the choicest fruits of the sun
and the rich yield of the months,

14

із да́ру врожаїв від сонця, і з да́ру рослини від місяців,

15

with the finest produce of the ancient mountains
and the abundance of the everlasting hills,

15

із верхі́в'я гір сходу, і з да́ру відвічних пагі́рків,

16

with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness
and the favor of him who dwells in the bush.
May these rest on the head of Joseph,
on the pate of him who is prince among his brothers.

16

із дару землі та її повноти́. А милість Того, що в терно́вім кущі пробува́в, нехай при́йде на голову Йо́сипа та на ті́м'я ви́різненого між братами своїми.

17

A firstborn bullk — he has majesty,
and his horns are the horns of a wild ox;
with them he shall gore the peoples,
all of them, to the ends of the earth;
they are the ten thousands of Ephraim,
and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”

Вели́чність його — як вола його перворідного, а ро́ги його — роги бу́йвола, — ними буде колоти наро́ди всі ра́зом, аж до кі́нців землі, а вони — мірія́ди Єфре́мові, а вони — Манасі́їні тисячі“.

18

And of Zebulun he said,
“Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out,
and Issachar, in your tents.

А про Завуло́на сказав: „Радій, Завуло́не, як будеш вихо́дити, і ти, Іссаха́ре, у наметах своїх!

19

They shall call peoples to their mountain;
there they offer right sacrifices;
for they draw from the abundance of the seas
and the hidden treasures of the sand.”

19

Вони кличуть наро́ди на го́ри, прино́сять там праведні жертви, бо будуть вони споживати доста́ток морськи́й та скарби, зариті в піску́“.

20

And of Gad he said,
“Blessed be he who enlarges Gad!
Gad crouches like a lion;
he tears off arm and scalp.

А про Ґада сказав: „Благословенний, хто Ґа́да розши́рює! Він ліг, як леви́ця, і жере рам'я́ й че́реп.

21

He chose the best of the land for himself,
for there a commander’s portion was reserved;
and he came with the heads of the people,
with Israel he executed the justice of the Lord,
and his judgments for Israel.”

Забезпечив він ча́стку для себе, бо там ча́стка прихо́вана від Праводавця, і прийшов із головами наро́ду, виконав правду Господню і Його постанови з Ізраїлем“.

22

And of Dan he said,
“Dan is a lion’s cub
that leaps from Bashan.”

А на Да́на сказав: „Дан левів левчу́к, що з Баша́ну вискакує“.

23

And of Naphtali he said,
“O Naphtali, sated with favor,
and full of the blessing of the Lord,
possess the lakel and the south.”

А на Нефтали́ма сказав: „Нефтали́м ситий ми́лістю, і повен Господнього благослове́ння, — захід та пі́вдень посядь!“

24

And of Asher he said,
“Most blessed of sons be Asher;
let him be the favorite of his brothers,
and let him dip his foot in oil.

А про Асира сказав: „Аси́р благословенний найбільше з синів, уподо́баний серед братів своїх, і в оливу вмочає він но́гу свою.

25

Your bars shall be iron and bronze,
and as your days, so shall your strength be.

25

Залізо та мідь — то запо́ра твоя, а сила твоя — як усі твої дні.

26

“There is none like God, O Jeshurun,
who rides through the heavens to your help,
through the skies in his majesty.

26

Немає такого, як Бог, Єшуру́не, що їде по небу на поміч тобі, а Своєю вели́чністю їде на хмарах.

27

The eternal God is your dwelling place,m
and underneath are the everlasting arms.n
And he thrust out the enemy before you
and said, ‘Destroy.’

27

Покро́ва твоя — Бог Предвічний і ти в вічних раме́нах Його. І вигнав Він ворога перед тобою, і сказав: Повинищуй його!

28

So Israel lived in safety,
Jacob lived alone,o
in a land of grain and wine,
whose heavens drop down dew.

28

І перебуває Ізраїль безпечно, самотно, він Яковове джерело́ в краї збіжжя й вина, а небо його сипле кра́плями ро́су.

29

Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you,
a people saved by the Lord,
the shield of your help,
and the sword of your triumph!
Your enemies shall come fawning to you,
and you shall tread upon their backs.”

Ти блаженний, Ізраїлю! Який інший наро́д, якого спасає Господь, як тебе? Він Щит допомоги твоєї, і Меч Він твоєї вели́чности. І будуть твої вороги при тобі упоко́рюватись, а ти по висо́тах їх будеш ступати“.
