Moses’ Final Blessing on Israel

This is the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the people of Israel before his death.

1

He said,
“The Lord came from Sinai
and dawned from Seir upon us;a
he shone forth from Mount Paran;
he came from the ten thousands of holy ones,
with flaming fireb at his right hand.

Він сказав:
Господь прийшов із Синаю, явився нам із Сиїру і поспішив з гори Фаран з десятками тисяч кадесів [1] , а по Його правиці з Ним — ангели.

Yes, he loved his people,c
all his holy ones were in hisd hand;
so they followede in your steps,
receiving direction from you,

Він пожалів Свій народ. Усі освячені — у Твоїх руках, вони — під Тобою. Він прийняв з Його слів

when Moses commanded us a law,
as a possession for the assembly of Jacob.

закон, який заповів нам Мойсей, — спадщину для громад Якова.

Thus the Lordf became king in Jeshurun,
when the heads of the people were gathered,
all the tribes of Israel together.

І Він буде володарем в улюбленому [2]народі, коли зберуться володарі народів разом з племенами Ізраїлю.

“Let Reuben live, and not die,
but let his men be few.”

Нехай живе Рувим і не вмирає, і нехай буде численний своєю кількістю.

And this he said of Judah:
“Hear, O Lord, the voice of Judah,
and bring him in to his people.
With your hands contendg for him,
and be a help against his adversaries.”

And of Levi he said,
“Give to Levih your Thummim,
and your Urim to your godly one,
whom you tested at Massah,
with whom you quarreled at the waters of Meribah;

who said of his father and mother,
‘I regard them not’;
he disowned his brothers
and ignored his children.
For they observed your word
and kept your covenant.

They shall teach Jacob your rules
and Israel your law;
they shall put incense before you
and whole burnt offerings on your altar.

Вони пояснюватимуть Твої постанови Якову і Твій закон — Ізраїлеві; вони завжди покладатимуть ладан в час Твого гніву на Твій жертовник.

11

Bless, O Lord, his substance,
and accept the work of his hands;
crush the loins of his adversaries,
of those who hate him, that they rise not again.”

Поблагослови, Господи, його силу і прийми діла його рук! Поламай крижі його ворогам, які повстали проти нього, і нехай не встануть ті, хто ненавидить його!

Of Benjamin he said,
“The beloved of the Lord dwells in safety.
The High Godi surrounds him all day long,
and dwells between his shoulders.”

А про Веніамина сказав: Господній улюбленець житиме в довір’ї, Бог отінює його всі дні, і він спочив у Його обіймах.

13

And of Joseph he said,
“Blessed by the Lord be his land,
with the choicest gifts of heaven above,j
and of the deep that crouches beneath,

А про Йосифа сказав: Його земля — від Господнього благословення, — від сезонів неба і роси та від безодень підземних джерел,

14

with the choicest fruits of the sun
and the rich yield of the months,

14

від посезонних плодів сонячних поворотів та від поєднань місяців,

15

with the finest produce of the ancient mountains
and the abundance of the everlasting hills,

15

від вершин стародавніх гір та від вершин вічних узвиш,

16

with the best gifts of the earth and its fullness
and the favor of him who dwells in the bush.
May these rest on the head of Joseph,
on the pate of him who is prince among his brothers.

від посезонного багатства землі. Що угодне Тому, Хто з’явився в кущі, нехай зійде на голову Йосифа й на тім’я прославленого серед братів.

17

A firstborn bullk — he has majesty,
and his horns are the horns of a wild ox;
with them he shall gore the peoples,
all of them, to the ends of the earth;
they are the ten thousands of Ephraim,
and they are the thousands of Manasseh.”

Його краса — мов краса вола-первістка, його роги — мов роги буйвола: ними він колотиме народи всі разом аж до краю землі. Це Ефраїмові десятки тисяч, це Манасіїні тисячі.

18

And of Zebulun he said,
“Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out,
and Issachar, in your tents.

19

They shall call peoples to their mountain;
there they offer right sacrifices;
for they draw from the abundance of the seas
and the hidden treasures of the sand.”

Вони вигублять народи, і ви будете прикликати там і приносити справедливі жертви, бо тебе годуватиме багатство моря і торгівля тих, що живуть на узбережжі.

20

And of Gad he said,
“Blessed be he who enlarges Gad!
Gad crouches like a lion;
he tears off arm and scalp.

А про Ґада сказав: Благословенний, хто розширює границі Ґада! Він спочив, наче лев, розтрощивши рамено і володаря.

21

He chose the best of the land for himself,
for there a commander’s portion was reserved;
and he came with the heads of the people,
with Israel he executed the justice of the Lord,
and his judgments for Israel.”

Він нагледів свій первоплід, бо там була розділена земля володарів, зібраних разом з князями народів. Господь здійснив справедливість і Свій суд з Ізраїлем.

22

And of Dan he said,
“Dan is a lion’s cub
that leaps from Bashan.”

22

А про Дана сказав: Дан — це левеня, що вискакує з Васану.

23

And of Naphtali he said,
“O Naphtali, sated with favor,
and full of the blessing of the Lord,
possess the lakel and the south.”

23

А про Нефталима сказав: Нефталим — це повнота задоволень; нехай він буде сповнений благословенням від Господа, нехай володіє морем та півднем.

24

And of Asher he said,
“Most blessed of sons be Asher;
let him be the favorite of his brothers,
and let him dip his foot in oil.

А про Асира сказав: Асир — найбільш благословенний серед синів; нехай він буде приємним для своїх братів, нехай вмочає свою ногу в олії.

25

Your bars shall be iron and bronze,
and as your days, so shall your strength be.

25

Його взуття буде залізо й мідь, і твоя сила — тривала, як твої дні.

“There is none like God, O Jeshurun,
who rides through the heavens to your help,
through the skies in his majesty.

Немає такого бога, як Бог улюбленця. Твій помічник — Той, Хто ходить по небу, величний по небозводу.

The eternal God is your dwelling place,m
and underneath are the everlasting arms.n
And he thrust out the enemy before you
and said, ‘Destroy.’

27

28

So Israel lived in safety,
Jacob lived alone,o
in a land of grain and wine,
whose heavens drop down dew.

Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you,
a people saved by the Lord,
the shield of your help,
and the sword of your triumph!
Your enemies shall come fawning to you,
and you shall tread upon their backs.”
