Lawsuits Against Believers

When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints?

Чи посміє хто з вас, маючи справу до іншого, су́дитися в неправедних, а не в святих?

2

Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases?

Хіба ви не знаєте, що святі світ судитимуть? Коли ж бу́дете ви світ судити, то чи ж ви негі́дні судити незначні справи?

Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!

Хіба ви не знаєте, що ми будем судити анголі́в, а не тільки життє́ве?

So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church?

А ви, коли маєте суд за життєве, то ставите суддями тих, хто нічо́го не значить у Церкві.

I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers,

Я на сором це вам говорю́. Чи ж між вами немає ні о́дного мудрого, щоб він міг розсуди́ти між братами своїми?

but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers?

Та брат су́диться з братом, — і то перед невірними!

To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?

Тож уже для вас сором зовсі́м, що суди́ між собою ви маєте. Чому краще не те́рпите кривди? Чому краще не маєте шкоди?

But you yourselves wrong and defraud — even your own brothers!a

Але ви самі кривду чините та обдираєте, та ще братів.

Or do you not know that the unrighteousb will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,c

Хіба ви не знаєте, що неправедні не вспадку́ють Божого Царства? Не обманюйте себе: ні розпу́сники, ні ідоля́ни, ні перелю́бники, ні блудоді́йники, ні мужоло́жники,

10

nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

ні злоді́ї, ні користолю́бці, ні п'яни́ці, ні злорі́ки, ні хижаки́ — Царства Божого не вспадку́ють вони!

11

And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

І такими були́ дехто з вас, але ви обмились, але́ освятились, але́ виправдались Іменем Господа Ісуса Христа й Духом нашого Бога.

Flee Sexual Immorality

“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.

Усе мені можна, та не все на пожи́ток. Усе мені можна, але мною, ніщо володіти не повинно.

“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food” — and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.

Ї́жа для че́рева, і че́рево для їжі, але Бог одне й друге пони́щить. А тіло не для розпусти, але для Господа, і Господь для тіла.

14

And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.

Бог же й Господа воскресив, воскреси́ть Він і нас Своєю силою!

15

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!

Хіба ви не знаєте, що ваші тіла́ — то члени Христові? Отож, узявши члени Христові, зроблю́ їх членами розпу́сниці? Зо́всім ні!

16

Or do you not know that he who is joinedd to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.”

Хіба ви не знаєте, що той, хто злучується з розпу́сницею, стає одним тілом із нею? Бо каже: „Оби́два ви будете тілом одним“.

17

But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.

17

А хто з Господом злучується, стає одним духом із Ним.

18

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sine a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

Утікайте від розпусти. Усякий бо гріх, що його чинить люди́на, є поза тілом. А хто чинить розпусту, той грішить проти власного тіла.

19

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

Хіба ви не знаєте, що ваше тіло — то храм Духа Святого, що живе Він у вас, Якого від Бога ви маєте, і ви не свої?

20

for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

20

Бо дорого ку́плені ви. Отож прославляйте Бога в тілі своє́му та в дусі своє́му, що Божі вони!
