Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.

Мы же, как споспешники, умоляем вас, чтобы благодать Божия не тщетно была принята вами.

For he says,
“In a favorable time I listened to you,
and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

Ибо сказано: «во время благоприятное Я услышал тебя и в день спасения помог тебе». Вот, теперь время благоприятное, вот, теперь день спасения.

We put no obstacle in anyone’s way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,

Мы никому ни в чём не полагаем претыкания, чтобы не было порицаемо служение,

but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities,

но во всём являем себя, как служители Божии, в великом терпении, в бедствиях, в нуждах, в тесных обстоятельствах,

beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger;

под ударами, в темницах, в изгнаниях, в трудах, в бдениях, в постах,

by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love;

в чистоте, в благоразумии, в великодушии, в благости, в Духе Святом, в нелицемерной любви,

by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;

в слове истины, в силе Божией, с оружием правды в правой и левой руке,

through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true;

в чести и бесчестии, при порицаниях и похвалах: нас почитают обманщиками, но мы верны;

as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed;

мы неизвестны, но нас узнают; нас почитают умершими, но вот, мы живы; нас наказывают, но мы не умираем;

as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.

нас огорчают, а мы всегда радуемся; мы нищи, но многих обогащаем; мы ничего не имеем, но всем обладаем.

We have spoken freely to you,a Corinthians; our heart is wide open.

You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections.

In return (I speak as to children) widen your hearts also.

The Temple of the Living God

Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?

Не преклоняйтесь под чужое ярмо с неверными, ибо какое общение праведности с беззаконием? Что общего у света с тьмою?

What accord has Christ with Belial?b Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?

Какое согласие между Христом и Велиаром? Или какое соучастие верного с неверным?

What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,
“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they shall be my people.

Какая совместность храма Божия с идолами? Ибо вы — храм Бога живого, как сказал Бог: «вселюсь в них и буду ходить в них; и буду их Богом, и они будут Моим народом».

Therefore go out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
then I will welcome you,

«И потому выйдите из среды их и отделитесь, говорит Господь, и не прикасайтесь к нечистому; и Я прииму вас».

18

and I will be a father to you,
and you shall be sons and daughters to me,
says the Lord Almighty.”

«И буду вам Отцом, и вы будете Моими сынами и дщерями, говорит Господь Вседержитель».
