And you were dead in the trespasses and sins

І вас (оживив), що були мертві провинами й гріхами вашими,

in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience —

в котрих колись ходили по віку сьвіта сього, робом князя власти воздушної, духа, що тепер орудує в синах перекору,

among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the bodya and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.b

між котрими й ми всї жили колись у хотїнню тїла нашого, чинивши волю тїла й думок, і були по природї дїтьми гнїва, як і инші.

4

Butc God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,

Бог же, багатий на милость, по превеликій любові своїй, котрою полюбив нас,

5

even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ — by grace you have been saved —

5

і нас, мертвих провинами, оживив укупі з Христом (благодаттю ви спасені),

6

and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

6

і воскресив з Ним, і дав нам сидїти вкупі на небесних (місцях) у Христї Ісусї,

7

so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

щоб показав у віках грядущих безмірне багацтво благодати своєї благостю до нас через Ісуса Христа.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,

Благодатю бо ви спасені через віру; і се не од вас: се Божий дар;

not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

не від дїл, щоб нїхто не хвалив ся.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Його бо ми твориво, сотворені в Христї Ісусї на добрі дїла, котрі наперед призначив Бог, щоб ми в них ходили.

One in Christ

Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands —

Тим же споминайте, що ви (були) колись погане в тїлї, звані необрізаннєм від рекомого обрізання у плотї, рукотвореного;

12

remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

що були ви того часу без Христа, відчужені від громади Ізраїлевої і чужі завітові обітування, не маючи надїї і безбожні в сьвітї.

13

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

13

Тепер же в Христї Ісусї ви, що були колись далеко, стали близькі кровю Христовою.

14

For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility

Він бо мир наш, що зробив з обох одно, і розвалив середню перегородню стїну;

15

by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace,

15

вражду тїлом своїм, закон заповідей наукою обернув у нїщо, щоб з двох зробити собою одного нового чоловіка, роблячи мир,

16

and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

16

і примирити з Богом обох ув одному тїлї хрестом, убивши ворогуваннє на ньому;

17

And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.

17

і прийшовши благовістив мир вам, далеким і близьким,

18

For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

18

тим що через Його маємо приступ обоє в одному Дусї до Отця.

19

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens,d but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

19

Тим же оце вже ви більш не чужі і захожі, а товариші сьвятим і домашні Божі;

20

built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,

20

збудовані на підвалинї апостолів і пророків, а угловий (камінь) сам Ісус Христос;

21

in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.

21

на котрому вся будівля, докупи споєна, росте в церкву сьвяту в Господї.

22

In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God bye the Spirit.

22

На Ньому й ви збудовуєтесь на оселю Божу Духом.
