Therefore, my brothers,a whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters,a stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work.

Exhortation, Encouragement, and Prayer

I entreat Euodia and I entreat Syntyche to agree in the Lord.

Words of Encouragement

Now I appeal to Euodia and Syntyche. Please, because you belong to the Lord, settle your disagreement.

Yes, I ask you also, true companion,b help these women, who have laboredc side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

And I ask you, my true partner,b to help these two women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. They worked along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the Book of Life.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.

Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again — rejoice!

Let your reasonablenessd be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;

Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.c

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

What you have learnede and received and heard and seen in me — practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me — everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

God’s Provision

I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at length you have revived your concern for me. You were indeed concerned for me, but you had no opportunity.

Paul’s Thanks for Their Gifts

How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me.

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.

Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.

I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.

I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

For I can do everything through Christ,d who gives me strength.

Yet it was kind of you to sharef my trouble.

Even so, you have done well to share with me in my present difficulty.

And you Philippians yourselves know that in the beginning of the gospel, when I left Macedonia, no church entered into partnership with me in giving and receiving, except you only.

As you know, you Philippians were the only ones who gave me financial help when I first brought you the Good News and then traveled on from Macedonia. No other church did this.

Even in Thessalonica you sent me help for my needs once and again.

Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.g

I don’t say this because I want a gift from you. Rather, I want you to receive a reward for your kindness.

I have received full payment, and more. I am well supplied, having received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.

At the moment I have all I need — and more! I am generously supplied with the gifts you sent me with Epaphroditus. They are a sweet-smelling sacrifice that is acceptable and pleasing to God.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.
