Egypt Invades Judah

And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

And it came to pass, that in the fifth year of king Rehoboam Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had transgressed against the LORD,

Сусаким, царь Египетский, напал на Иерусалим в пятый год царствования Ровоама. Это произошло потому, что Ровоам и народ Иуды не были преданы Господу.

With twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubims, the Sukkiims, and the Ethiopians.

У Сусакима были тысяча двести колесниц, шестьдесят тысяч всадников и войско, такое многочисленное, что его невозможно было сосчитать. В войске Сусакима были ливийцы, сукхиты и эфиопы.

And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came to Jerusalem.

Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

Тогда пророк Самей пришёл к Ровоаму и к вождям Иудеи. Эти вожди собрались вместе в Иерусалиме из-за Сусакима. Самей сказал Ровоаму и вождям Иудеи: "Так говорит Господь: "Ровоам, ты и народ Иудеи оставили Меня. Поэтому и Я оставлю вас и позволю Сусакиму разбить вас"".

Whereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

Тогда вожди Иудеи и царь Ровоам смирились. Они сказали: "Прав Господь".

And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance; and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

Господь увидел, что царь и вожди Иудеи смирились. И было слово Господа к Самею. Господь сказал Самею: "Царь и вожди смирились, поэтому Я не уничтожу их, а скоро спасу. Я не изолью Свой гнев на Иерусалим через Сусакима.

Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

Но жители Иерусалима всё же станут слугами Сусакима, чтобы знали они, что служить Мне совсем не то, что служить другим народам".

Egypt Plunders Jerusalem

So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

Сусаким, царь Египетский, напал на Иерусалим и забрал сокровища из храма Господа. Он также забрал сокровища, которые были в царском дворце. Он взял все сокровища и унёс их, и взял также золотые щиты, которые сделал Соломон.

Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.

And when the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them, and brought them again into the guard chamber.

And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.

Когда Ровоам смирился, Господь отвратил от него Свой гнев и не погубил Ровоама до конца, ибо в Иудее всё же было нечто хорошее.

The Death of Rehoboam

So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was one and forty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Naamah an Ammonitess.

Царь Ровоам стал сильным царём в Иерусалиме. Ему был сорок один год, когда он стал царём. Ровоам был царём в Иерусалиме семнадцать лет, в городе, который был избран Господом из всех колен Израиля. Господь избрал Иерусалим, чтобы поместить там имя Своё. Матерью Ровоама была Наама Аммонитянка.

And he did evil, because he prepared not his heart to seek the LORD.

Ровоам творил зло, потому что в сердце своём он не желал подчиняться Господу.

Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the book of Shemaiah the prophet, and of Iddo the seer concerning genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

То, что делал Ровоам, когда был царём, от начала и до конца его царствования, описано в писаниях пророка Самея и в писаниях провидца Адды. Оба они писали семейные летописи. Между Ровоамом и Иеровоамом всё время шли войны, во все дни их правления.

And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

Ровоам почил со своими предками и был похоронен в городе Давида. Новым царём стал его сын Авия.
