No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.
„Справді, — то ж ви́ тільки люди, і мудрість із вами помре́!
But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?
Таж і я маю розум, як ви, — я не нижчий від вас! І в ко́го немає такого, як це?
I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.
Посміхо́вищем став я для друга свого, я, що кли́кав до Бога, і Він мені відповіда́в, — посміхо́вищем став справедливий, невинний.
He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.
Нещасли́вцю погорда, — на думку спокійного, — пригото́влена для спотика́ння ноги́!
The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.
Спокійні намети грабіжників, і безпечність у тих, хто Бога гніви́ть, у то́го, хто ніби то Бога прова́дить рукою своєю.
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
Але запитай хоч худо́бу — і навчить тебе, і пта́ство небесне — й тобі розповість.
Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.
Або говори до землі — й вона ви́вчить тебе, і розкажуть тобі риби мо́рські.
Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?
Хто б із цьо́го всього́ не пізнав, що Господня рука це вчинила?
In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.
Що в Ньо́го в руці душа всього живого й дух кожного лю́дського тіла?
Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?
Чи ж не ухо слова́ розбирає, піднебі́ння ж смакує для себе пожи́ву?
With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.
Мудрість — у ста́рших, бо до́вгість днів — розум.
With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.
Мудрість та сила — у Нього, Його рада та розум.
Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.
Ось Він зруйнує — й не буде воно відбудо́ване, замкне́ чоловіка — й не буде він ви́пущений.
Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
Ось Він стримає во́ди — і висохнуть, Він їх пустить — то землю вони переве́рнуть.
With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.
В Нього сила та за́дум, у Нього заблу́джений і той, хто призво́дить до блу́ду.
He leadeth counsellers away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.
Він уво́дить у по́милку ра́дників, і обезу́млює су́ддів,
He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.
Він розв'язує пу́та царів і припері́зує по́яса на їхні сте́гна.
He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.
Він провадить священиків босо, і потужних повалює,
He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.
Він надійним уста́ відіймає й забирає від ста́рших розумність.
He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.
На достойників ллє Він погорду, а пояса можним ослаблює.
He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.
Відкриває Він речі глибокі із те́мряви, а темне прова́дить на світло.
He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.
Він робить наро́ди поту́жними — й знову їх нищить, Він наро́ди поши́рює, й потім виво́дить в неволю.
He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.
Відіймає Він розум в наро́дніх голі́в на землі та блука́ти їх змушує по бездоро́жній пусте́лі, —
