Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.
Ні, але ж послухай, Йове, мої слова і мою мову.
Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.
Отже, послухай, бо я відкрив свої уста, і мій язик заговорив.
My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.
Моє серце чисте від слів, а розум моїх уст розуміє чисте.
The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Божий дух мене створив, і дихання Вседержителя мене навчає.
If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.
Якщо можеш, то дай мені на це відповідь. Потерпи, стань ти проти мене і я проти тебе.
Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.
Ти утворений з глини, як і я, ми утворені з того самого.
Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.
Мій страх тебе не буде непокоїти, і моя рука не буде тяжка на тобі.
Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,
Тільки ти заговорив до моїх вух, я почув голос твоїх слів.
I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.
Тому що ти говориш: Я є чистий, я не згрішив, я ж є непорочний, бо я не вчинив беззаконня.
Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,
Він же знайшов вину проти мене, і вважає мене за ворога.
He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.
Він помістив мої ноги в колодки, і стеріг усі мої дороги.
Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.
Як же ти говориш: Я праведний, та Він мене не вислухав? Адже вічний є Той, Хто над смертними людьми!
Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.
Ти ж говориш: Чому Він не почув усі слова моєї правди?
For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.
Бо Господь раз заговорить, і вдруге — уві сні
In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
чи в нічному повчанні, коли нападе часом на людей жахливий страх уві сні на ліжку.
Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
Тоді Він відкриває розум людей — цими страхітливими видіннями налякав їх,
That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
щоб відвернути людину від неправедності; його тіло Він врятував від падіння, —
He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
пощадив його душу від смерті, щоб він не поліг у битві.
He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
Знову ж Він докорив його хворобою на ліжку, і заціпеніло безліч його костей.
So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
Будь-яку їжу пшениці не зможе він прийняти, а його душа бажатиме їжі,
His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
аж доки не розкладеться його тіло, і покаже його оголені кості.
Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
Його душа наблизилася до смерті, і його життя — в аді.
If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
Якщо буде тисяча смертоносних ангелів, жоден з них його не уразить. Якщо пізнає серцем, щоб повернутися до Господа, сповістити ж людині своє засудження, показати його провину,
Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
Він підтримає, щоб той не впав у смерть, і обновить його тіло, так як тиньк на стіні, кості ж його наповнить кістковим мозком.
His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:
Він пружним зробить його тіло, наче в немовляти, і відновить його зрілість між людьми.
He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.
Коли він помолиться до Господа, то буде сприйнятий Ним, і з чистим обличчям увійде з прославлянням. Адже Він поверне людям праведність.
He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;
Тоді людина так звинуватить сама себе, кажучи: Що я звершив, і не за справедливістю покарав мене за те, що я згрішив!
He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.
Спаси мою душу, щоб не піти в тління, і моє життя побачить світло!
Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,
Ось усе це з людиною чинить Сильний трьома дорогами.
To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.
Але спаси мою душу від смерті, щоб моє життя хвалило Його у світлі.
Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.
Почуй, Йове, і послухай мене! Замовкни, а я буду говорити!
If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.
Якщо є слова, відповіси мені. Заговори, бо я бажаю, щоб ти був оправданий.
