Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
Послухайте мене, мудрі! Послухайте досвідчені.
For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
Адже вухо досліджує слова, а горло куштує їжу.
Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.
Суд чинимо собі самим, знаємо в собі те, що добре.
For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.
Бо сказав Йов: Я є праведний, Господь відняв мені суд,
Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.
учинив неправду моєму судові, моя стріла — болісна, без вини.
What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
Хто такий чоловік, як Йов, який п’є погорду, наче воду,
Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.
котрий не згрішив і не був безбожним, він не пристав до дороги тих, хто чинить беззаконня, щоб піти з беззаконними?
For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.
Не говори, промовляючи: Не буде відвідин чоловіка! А відвідини йому від Господа.
Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
Тому, розумні серцем, послухайте мене: Хай не буде мені перед Господом бути безбожним і перед Вседержителем бентежити праведного.
For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.
Але нехай віддасть чоловікові, як і чинить кожний з них, і на стежці чоловіка знайде його.
Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
Думаєш, що Господь невідповідне чинить? Чи Вседержитель змішає суд? —
Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?
Той, Хто створив землю! Хто ж є, Той, Котрий творить піднебесну і все, що там існує?
If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
Якщо б Він бажав прийняти, і дух в Собі затримати,
All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
то помре кожне тіло разом, і кожна смертна людина в землю відійде, з якої і утворена.
If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
Якщо ж не сприймаєш, послухай це, прислухайся до голосу слів.
Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?
Глянь ти на Того, Хто ненавидить беззаконня і нищить лукавих, що є Вічний праведний.
Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?
Той безбожний, хто каже цареві: Порушуєш закон! — і володарям: О, безбожні!
How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.
Хто не застидався присутності шляхетного, і не вміє честь віддати мужам, пошанувати їхнє обличчя.
In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
Марним же їм станеться кричати і благати мужа, бо вчинили проти закону, відвертаючи слабких.
For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.
Адже Він — оглядач людських діл, не залишилося непоміченим Ним нічого з того, що вони чинять,
There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
і не буде місця сховатися тим, хто чинить беззаконня.
For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.
Бо Він більше не покладе на чоловіка. Господь усіх бачить,
He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.
осягає незбагненне, славне і надзвичайне, якому немає рахунку.
Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
Він виявляє їхні діла і поверне ніч, тож вони впокоряться.
He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;
Він погасив безбожних, — вони явні перед Ним,
Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:
бо відвернулися від Божого Закону, заповідей Його не пізнали,
So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.
щоб принести до Нього крик бідних, а крик бідних буде почутий.
When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:
І Він тишу подасть, і хто засудить? І сховає обличчя, і хто побачить Його? І проти народів, і проти людини разом,
That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.
царем наставляючи дволичну людину через незадоволення народу.
Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:
Адже є такий, хто до Сильного говорить: Забрав я, не візьму в заставу!
That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.
Без себе побачу, Ти покажи мені. Якщо неправедність я вчинив, то не продовжуватиму.
Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.
Чи не від тебе Він домагатиметься її? Оскільки відкинеш, бо ти обиратимеш, а не я. І що дізнався, ти говори.
Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.
Тому розумні серцем скажуть це, бо чоловік мудрий почув моє слово.
Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.
Йов же не в розумі сказав, слова ж його не від знання.
My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.
Але ж навчися, Йове, не давай ще відповіді, наче нерозумні,
