Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is Good
Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Алилуя. Хваліте Господа, бо добрий, бо милість його повіки.
Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
Хто може розповісти про подвиги Господні, усю славу його розголосити?
Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
Щасливий, хто пильнує право й увесь час творить справедливість!
Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
Згадай, о Господи, про мене у благоволінні до народу твого! Навідайся з твоєю допомогою до мене,
That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
щоб я міг бачити твоїх вибранців щастя, щоб міг радіти радістю твого народу, щоб міг хвалитися твоєю спадщиною.
We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
Ми згрішили з нашими батьками, провинилися, вчинили беззаконня.
Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
Батьки наші в Єгипті на чуда твої не вважали, не пам'ятали про численні твої добродійства і збунтувалися проти Всевишнього над Червоним морем.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
А все ж таки він спас їх імени свого ради, щоб появити свою силу.
He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
Він погрозив Червоному морю, і воно висхло, і перевів їх через безодню.
And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
Він з руки ненависника врятував їх, і визволив їх з руки ворога;
And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
противників же їх покрили води, ані один з них не лишився.
Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
Тоді вони повірили його словам і хвалу йому заспівали.
They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
Незабаром вони діла його забули, поради його не чекали.
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
І запалали жадобою в пустині, і заходилися спокушувати Бога на безлюдді.
And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
І дав він їм, чого вони бажали, але наслав сухоти в їхню душу.
They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
І почали заздрити Мойсеєві в таборі й Аронові, Господньому святому.
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Розсілася земля й поглинула Датана і покрила зграю Авірама.
And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
І запалав огонь у їхній зграї, і полум'я спалило беззаконних.
They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
Бичка зробили під Хоривом і вилитому бовванові поклонялись
Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
І заміняли свою Славу на бика подобу, що траву їсть.
They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
Забули Бога, Спаса свого, що вчинив великі подвиги в Єгипті,
Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
діла предивні в землі Хама, страшенні — над Червоним морем.
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
Вже говорив про те, щоб їх запропастити, якби Мойсей, його вибранець, не став йому навпроти на проломі, щоб відвернути його гнів, щоб він їх не знищив.
Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
І погордували розкішною землею, не йняли віри його слову.
But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
І ремствували у своїх наметах, і на Господній голос не зважали.
Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
І він, піднявши руку, їм поклявся, що трупом їх покладе в пустині
To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
і між народами розсіє їхнє потомство, самих же їх розвіє геть по землях.
They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
Злигалися і з Ваал-Пеором і їли жертви мертвих.
Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
Роздратували його вчинками своїми, і впала на них кара.
Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
Тоді устав Пінхас і вчинив розправу, і кара припинилась.
And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
І полічено йому це за заслугу по всі роди, по віки вічні.
They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
І розгнівали його над Меріва-водами, і через них дізнав і Мойсей лиха.
Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
Вони бо так допекли його серцю, що в нього вирвалося з уст необачне слово.
They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
Вони не знищили народів, про котрих говорив Господь їм,
But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
але з поганами змішались і навчились, як вони, чинити.
And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
Узяли служити їхнім божищам, що стали для них петлею.
Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
Синів своїх і дочок рідних, жертвували демонам.
And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
І проливали кров невинну, кров синів і дочок рідних, що жертвували божищам ханаанським. І осквернилася земля від крови,
Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
і опоганилася вчинками їхніми, і блудними ділами їхніми.
Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
І скипів гнів Господень на народ свій, і він свою спадщину зненавидів.
And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
Він видав їх поганам у руки, їхні ненависники запанували ними.
Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
І їх гнітили вороги їхні, і вони були підбиті під їхню руку.
Many times did he deliver them; but they provoked him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.
Багато разів він визволяв їх, вони ж усе бунтувались думкою своєю і падали глибоко за свої провини.
Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry:
Та він ізглянувся над їхньою бідою, коли почув був їхні благання.
And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies.
Згадав він їм союз свій із ними і змилувався у своїм великім милосерді.
He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.
Він зробив так, що вони знайшли милосердя у всіх, що їх забрали в полон.
Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the heathen, to give thanks unto thy holy name, and to triumph in thy praise.
Спаси нас, Господи, наш Боже; збери нас із-між народів, щоб прославляти твоє святе ім'я і величатися твоєю похвалою.
