Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is Good
Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Алилуя. Прославляйте Господа, бо Він добрий, бо Його милість навіки.
Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise?
Хай промовляють так викуплені Господом, яких Він визволив із рук ворога.
Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.
Зібрав їх з країн: зі сходу, заходу, півночі й півдня.
Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation;
Вони заблукали в безводній пустелі — не знайшли дороги до заселеного міста;
That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.
були голодні й спраглі, і умлівала в них душа.
We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
І закликали до Господа у своїй недолі, і Він визволив їх від їхніх бід,
Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.
і дорогою прямою попровадив їх, щоби прибули до міста, де мали проживати.
Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.
Тож хай прославляють Господа за Його милосердя і Його чудеса для людських синів!
He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness.
Адже Він наситив спустошену душу, — наповнив добром спраглу душу
And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.
тих, які перебували в мороку, у тіні смерті, були сковані нуждою і залізом;
And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.
оскільки вони збунтувалися проти Божих слів і поглумилися над радою Всевишнього.
Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.
Тож їхнє серце було впокорене працею; вони знемагали, та не було кому допомогти.
They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:
І, коли їх гнобили, вони заволали до Господа, і Він їх визволив з їхніх скорбот:
But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.
вивів їх з мороку і тіні смерті, кайдани їхні розірвав.
And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.
Тож хай прославляють Господа за Його милосердя і Його чудеса для людських синів!
They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD.
Це ж Він розбив мідні брами і розтрощив залізні засуви!
The earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Допоміг їм повернути з дороги їхнього беззаконня, бо через своє беззаконня вони зазнали приниження.
And a fire was kindled in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
Будь-яка їжа стала огидною для їхньої душі, і вони наблизилися до воріт смерті.
They made a calf in Horeb, and worshipped the molten image.
І, коли їх гнобили, вони заволали до Господа, і Він їх визволив з їхніх скорбот.
Thus they changed their glory into the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.
Він послав Своє слово й оздоровив їх, визволив їх від їхньої погибелі.
They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt;
Тож хай прославляють Господа за Його милосердя і Його чудеса для людських синів!
Wondrous works in the land of Ham, and terrible things by the Red sea.
Хай принесуть жертву хвали, хай розкажуть про Його діла з радістю!
Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.
Ті, які відпливають у море на кораблях, котрі торгують на багатьох водних шляхах,
Yea, they despised the pleasant land, they believed not his word:
бачили Господні діла і Його чудеса в морській глибині!
But murmured in their tents, and hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.
Він промовив, — і зірвався нищівний вітер, піднялися вгору морські хвилі, —
Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness:
вони підносяться до неба і спадають у безодню; їхня душа танула в біді.
To overthrow their seed also among the nations, and to scatter them in the lands.
Вони розбушувалися, заточуються, наче п’яні, — і вся їхня мудрість пропала.
They joined themselves also unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead.
Та у своєму горі вони заволали до Господа, і Він їх звільнив від їхніх страждань.
Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them.
Він наказав бурі — і настала тиша, і заспокоїлися її хвилі.
Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed.
Вони ж зраділи, що стихло. І Він привів їх до бажаної пристані.
And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore.
Тож хай прославляють Господа за Його милосердя, за Його чудеса для людських синів!
They angered him also at the waters of strife, so that it went ill with Moses for their sakes:
Хай величають Його на зібраннях народу, на засіданні старців нехай Його прославляють!
Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips.
Він обернув ріки в пустелю і водні джерела — на суху землю:
They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:
плодоносну землю — через злодіяння тих, хто на ній живе, — перетворив у солончаки.
But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.
А пустелю Він обернув в озерний край, і суху землю — у водні джерела.
And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.
Він поселив там спраглих, і вони збудували місто для проживання.
Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,
Тож вони засіяли поля, насадили виноградники і зібрали вирощений урожай.
And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
І Він поблагословив їх, і стали дуже численними, і їхньої худоби не поменшало.
Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
Та вони стали нечисленними, і зле їм було під тягарем страждань і болю.
Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.
Зневага вилилася на володарів, — Він дав їм блукати в непрохідних місцях, на бездоріжжі.
And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.
Він допоміг бідному вибратися з убогості й намножив родини, як отару.
Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.
Побачать це праведні й зрадіють, а все беззаконне закриє свої вуста.
