King James Bible

New Living Translation

  • To You I Do Lift Up My Eyes

{A Song of degrees.} Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
  • A song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem.

I lift my eyes to you,
    O God, enthroned in heaven.
  • Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the LORD our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
  • We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy,
just as servants keep their eyes on their master,
as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
  • Have mercy upon us, O LORD, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
  • Have mercy on us, LORD, have mercy,
for we have had our fill of contempt.
  • Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
  • We have had more than our fill of the scoffing of the proud
and the contempt of the arrogant.
