King James Bible

New International Version

  • Blessed Be the Lord, My Rock

    {A Psalm of David.} Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
  • Psalm 144
    Of David.

    Praise be to the Lord my Rock,
    who trains my hands for war,
    my fingers for battle.
  • My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
  • He is my loving God and my fortress,
    my stronghold and my deliverer,
    my shield, in whom I take refuge,
    who subdues peoplesa under me.
  • LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him!
  • Lord, what are human beings that you care for them,
    mere mortals that you think of them?
  • Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away.
  • They are like a breath;
    their days are like a fleeting shadow.
  • Bow thy heavens, O LORD, and come down: touch the mountains, and they shall smoke.
  • Part your heavens, Lord, and come down;
    touch the mountains, so that they smoke.
  • Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them.
  • Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy;
    shoot your arrows and rout them.
  • Send thine hand from above; rid me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of strange children;
  • Reach down your hand from on high;
    deliver me and rescue me
    from the mighty waters,
    from the hands of foreigners
  • Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
  • whose mouths are full of lies,
    whose right hands are deceitful.
  • I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery and an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee.
  • I will sing a new song to you, my God;
    on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you,
  • It is he that giveth salvation unto kings: who delivereth David his servant from the hurtful sword.
  • to the One who gives victory to kings,
    who delivers his servant David.
    From the deadly sword
  • Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood:
  • deliver me;
    rescue me from the hands of foreigners
    whose mouths are full of lies,
    whose right hands are deceitful.
  • That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace:
  • Then our sons in their youth
    will be like well-nurtured plants,
    and our daughters will be like pillars
    carved to adorn a palace.
  • That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets:
  • Our barns will be filled
    with every kind of provision.
    Our sheep will increase by thousands,
    by tens of thousands in our fields;
  • That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets.
  • our oxen will draw heavy loads.b
    There will be no breaching of walls,
    no going into captivity,
    no cry of distress in our streets.
  • Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.
  • Blessed is the people of whom this is true;
    blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.
