King James Bible

New Living Translation

  • It is Good to Sing Praises to Our God

Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
  • Praise the LORD!
How good to sing praises to our God!
    How delightful and how fitting!
  • The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
  • The LORD is rebuilding Jerusalem
and bringing the exiles back to Israel.
  • He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
  • He heals the brokenhearted
    and bandages their wounds.
  • He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
  • He counts the stars
and calls them all by name.
  • Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
  • How great is our Lord! His power is absolute!
    His understanding is beyond comprehension!
  • The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.
  • The LORD supports the humble,
but he brings the wicked down into the dust.
  • Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
  • Sing out your thanks to the LORD;
sing praises to our God with a harp.
  • Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
  • He covers the heavens with clouds,
    provides rain for the earth,
and makes the grass grow in mountain pastures.
  • He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.
  • He gives food to the wild animals
and feeds the young ravens when they cry.
  • He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
  • He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse
    or in human might.
  • The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
  • No, the LORD’s delight is in those who fear him,
those who put their hope in his unfailing love.
  • Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
  • Glorify the LORD, O Jerusalem!
    Praise your God, O Zion!
  • For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.
  • For he has strengthened the bars of your gates
and blessed your children within your walls.
  • He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
  • He sends peace across your nation
and satisfies your hunger with the finest wheat.
  • He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly.
  • He sends his orders to the world —
    how swiftly his word flies!
  • He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
  • He sends the snow like white wool;
he scatters frost upon the ground like ashes.
  • He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
  • He hurls the hail like stones.a
Who can stand against his freezing cold?
  • He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
  • Then, at his command, it all melts.
He sends his winds, and the ice thaws.
  • He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
  • He has revealed his words to Jacob,
his decrees and regulations to Israel.
  • He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD.
  • He has not done this for any other nation;
they do not know his regulations.
    Praise the LORD!
