  • Mourning Turned into Dancing

    {A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David.} I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
  • Joy Comes with the Morning

    A Psalm of David. A song at the dedication of the temple.

    I will extol you, O Lord, for you have drawn me up
    and have not let my foes rejoice over me.
  • O LORD my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
  • O Lord my God, I cried to you for help,
    and you have healed me.
  • O LORD, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
  • O Lord, you have brought up my soul from Sheol;
    you restored me to life from among those who go down to the pit.a
  • Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
  • Sing praises to the Lord, O you his saints,
    and give thanks to his holy name.b
  • For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
  • For his anger is but for a moment,
    and his favor is for a lifetime.c
    Weeping may tarry for the night,
    but joy comes with the morning.
  • And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
  • As for me, I said in my prosperity,
    “I shall never be moved.”
  • LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.
  • By your favor, O Lord,
    you made my mountain stand strong;
    you hid your face;
    I was dismayed.
  • I cried to thee, O LORD; and unto the LORD I made supplication.
  • To you, O Lord, I cry,
    and to the Lord I plead for mercy:
  • What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
  • “What profit is there in my death,d
    if I go down to the pit?e
    Will the dust praise you?
    Will it tell of your faithfulness?
  • Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.
  • Hear, O Lord, and be merciful to me!
    O Lord, be my helper!”
  • Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
  • You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    you have loosed my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness,
  • To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
  • that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
    O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!
