King James Bible

English Standard Version

  • Answer Me When I Call!

    {To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm of David.} Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
  • Answer Me When I Call

    To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

    Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
    You have given me relief when I was in distress.
    Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
  • O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
  • O men,a how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
    How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? Selah
  • But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
  • But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself;
    the Lord hears when I call to him.
  • Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
  • Be angry,b and do not sin;
    ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah
  • Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
  • Offer right sacrifices,
    and put your trust in the Lord.
  • There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
  • There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
    Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
  • Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
  • You have put more joy in my heart
    than they have when their grain and wine abound.
  • I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
  • In peace I will both lie down and sleep;
    for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
