For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Пройди сквозь эти вечные руины, Боже. Разрушил враг всё, бывшее в святилище!
For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
Врага военные кличи Твой храм оглашали. Водрузили они там знамёна свои в знак того, что в войне победили.
They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
И верхний вход во храм разрушили солдаты врага, как будто лес своими топорами вырубали.
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Топорами, секирами изувечили стены, резные стены храма Твоего.
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
Дотла они храм Твой спалили, разрушили до основанья святилище, воздвигнутое в Твою честь.
They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
Они сказали: "Мы полностью их покорим". И подожгли все те места, где Богу поклонялись мы.
They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
Для нас больше нет знамений, нету больше пророков, и никто не знает, что делать.
Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
Долго ль будут ещё насмехаться враги и хулить Твоё имя?
And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
За что наказанья такие? Почему не возносишь Ты руку и врагов не уничтожаешь?
Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Но Бог, мой царь, всегда существовал, и даже в древности Он приносил спасенье.
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
Ведь это Ты Своею силой чудовищу морскому брюхо вскрыл, Ты головы сломал драконам в океане.
For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
Ведь это Ты снёс голову Левиафану и тело в пустыне бросил в пищу зверю.
If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
Ведь это Ты ручьи и реки высек, Ты иссушил неиссякающие реки.
When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
Тебе принадлежат и день, и ночь, ведь это Ты создал луну и солнце.
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
Ведь это Ты пределы дал всему земному, Ты сотворил зиму и лето.
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
Так вспомни, Господи, как насмехался над Тобою враг, как люди глупые глумились.
How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
Не отдай в лапы зверя голубку, не забудь навсегда людей своих, переполненных печалью.
As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
Не забывай заветы, в каждом тёмном углу — насилие.
Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
Не дай угнетённым бесчестья, да вознесут Твоё имя бедные и обездоленные.
So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
Восстань, о Боже, для боренья, вспомни, как над Тобою долго глупцы смеялись.
