  • God's Name is Great in Israel

    {To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song of Asaph.} In Judah is God known: his name is great in Israel.
  • Psalm 76a

    For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of Asaph. A song.

    God is renowned in Judah;
    in Israel his name is great.
  • In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
  • His tent is in Salem,
    his dwelling place in Zion.
  • There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah.
  • There he broke the flashing arrows,
    the shields and the swords, the weapons of war.b
  • Thou art more glorious and excellent than the mountains of prey.
  • You are radiant with light,
    more majestic than mountains rich with game.
  • The stouthearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
  • The valiant lie plundered,
    they sleep their last sleep;
    not one of the warriors
    can lift his hands.
  • At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
  • At your rebuke, God of Jacob,
    both horse and chariot lie still.
  • Thou, even thou, art to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
  • It is you alone who are to be feared.
    Who can stand before you when you are angry?
  • Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
  • From heaven you pronounced judgment,
    and the land feared and was quiet —
  • When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. Selah.
  • when you, God, rose up to judge,
    to save all the afflicted of the land.
  • Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
  • Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise,
    and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.c
  • Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God: let all that be round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared.
  • Make vows to the Lord your God and fulfill them;
    let all the neighboring lands
    bring gifts to the One to be feared.
  • He shall cut off the spirit of princes: he is terrible to the kings of the earth.
  • He breaks the spirit of rulers;
    he is feared by the kings of the earth.
