King James Bible

English Standard Version

  • In Distress, I Sought the Lord

    {To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph.} I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.
  • In the Day of Trouble I Seek the Lord

    To the choirmaster: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

    I cry aloud to God,
    aloud to God, and he will hear me.
  • In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.
  • In the day of my trouble I seek the Lord;
    in the night my hand is stretched out without wearying;
    my soul refuses to be comforted.
  • I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.
  • When I remember God, I moan;
    when I meditate, my spirit faints. Selah
  • Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
  • You hold my eyelids open;
    I am so troubled that I cannot speak.
  • I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.
  • I consider the days of old,
    the years long ago.
  • I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.
  • I said,a “Let me remember my song in the night;
    let me meditate in my heart.”
    Then my spirit made a diligent search:
  • Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?
  • “Will the Lord spurn forever,
    and never again be favorable?
  • Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?
  • Has his steadfast love forever ceased?
    Are his promises at an end for all time?
  • Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.
  • Has God forgotten to be gracious?
    Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah
  • And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.
  • Then I said, “I will appeal to this,
    to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”b
  • I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.
  • I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
    yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
  • I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.
  • I will ponder all your work,
    and meditate on your mighty deeds.
  • Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?
  • Your way, O God, is holy.
    What god is great like our God?
  • Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.
  • You are the God who works wonders;
    you have made known your might among the peoples.
  • Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.
  • You with your arm redeemed your people,
    the children of Jacob and Joseph. Selah
  • The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.
  • When the waters saw you, O God,
    when the waters saw you, they were afraid;
    indeed, the deep trembled.
  • The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.
  • The clouds poured out water;
    the skies gave forth thunder;
    your arrows flashed on every side.
  • The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.
  • The crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;
    your lightnings lighted up the world;
    the earth trembled and shook.
  • Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
  • Your way was through the sea,
    your path through the great waters;
    yet your footprints were unseen.c
  • Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
  • You led your people like a flock
    by the hand of Moses and Aaron.
