In Distress, I Sought the Lord

{To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph.} I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

Проводиреві хора: під Едутун; псальма Асафова. Голос мій до Бога, я буду взивати; мій голос до Бога, і він вислухає мене.

In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

В день тїсноти моєї шукав я Господа; простирав в ночі руки мої без устанку; душа моя марно шукала одради.

I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

Спогадав я Господа, і застогнав: став я думати, і знемігся духом.

4

Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

Ти держав повійки очей моїх; я стревожився і відняло менї мову.

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

Спогадав я днї давні, лїта віків минувших.

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

Згадав в ночі піснї мої; думав-гадав я в серцї моїм, і дух мій допитувався:

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

Чи по віки відкине Господь, і не явить більше ласки своєї?

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

Хиба на завсїди конець добротї його? Скіньчились слова з роду в рід?

9

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

Чи забув Бог милосердуватись? Хиба він зачинив в гнїві милосердє своє?

And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

Тодї сказав я: Нездужаю. Згадаю про лїта правицї Всевишнього,

I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

Про дїла Господа; про чудеса днедавні згадаю;

12

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

Буду думати-гадати про всї дїла твої, розмишляти о дїяннях твоїх.

13

Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

13

Боже! Дорога твоя у сьвятинї; хто такий Бог великий, як ти, Боже?

14

Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

Ти Бог той, що чудеса творить, ти явив між народами силу твою.

15

Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

15

Ізбавив народ твій рамям твоїм, синів Якова й Йосифа.

16

The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

Тебе побачили води, Боже, води побачили тебе і — злякались; безоднї здрігнулись.

17

The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.

Линуло з хмар водою; од тучі роздався голос, і стріли твої миготїли.

18

The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

З вихром розносився голос грому твого, блискавки осьвічували круг земний; земля задрожала і задуднїла.

19

Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

19

Через море веде дорога твоя й стежки твої, через великі води, і тропи твої невідомі.

20

Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

20

Ти провадив народ твій як стадо, рукою Мойсея і Аарона.
