In Distress, I Sought the Lord

{To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, A Psalm of Asaph.} I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me.

Пісня навча́льна Асафова. Послухай, мій люду, науки моєї, нахиліть своє ухо до слів моїх уст, —

In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted.

нехай я відкрию уста́ свої при́казкою, нехай старода́вні прислі́в'я я ви́словлю!

3

I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

Що́ ми чули й пізнали, і що́ розповідали батьки́ наші нам, —

4

Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

4

того не сховаємо від їхніх сині́в, будемо розповіда́ти про славу Господню аж до покоління оста́ннього, і про силу Його та про чу́да Його, які Він учинив!

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

Він поставив засві́дчення в Якові, а Зако́на поклав ув Ізраїлі, про які наказав був Він нашим батька́м завідо́мити про них синів їхніх,

I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search.

щоб знало про це поколі́ння майбу́тнє, сини, що наро́джені будуть, — уста́нуть і будуть розповідати своїм дітям.

Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more?

І положать на Бога надію свою, і не забудуть діл Божих, Його ж заповіді берегти́муть.

8

Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?

І не стануть вони, немов їхні батьки́, поколі́нням непокі́рливим та бунтівни́чим, поколінням, що серця свого́ не поста́вило міцно, і що дух його Богу невірний.

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

Сини Єфрема, озбро́єні лу́чники, повернулися взад у день бо́ю:

10

And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

вони не берегли́ заповіту Божого, а ходити в Зако́ні Його відреклися,

11

I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

11

і забули вони Його чи́ни та чу́да Його, які їм показав.

12

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.

Він чудо вчинив був для їхніх батькі́в ув єгипетськім кра́ї, на полі Цоа́нськім:

Thy way, O God, is in the sanctuary: who is so great a God as our God?

13

Він море розсік, і їх перепрова́див, а воду поставив, як вал;

14

Thou art the God that doest wonders: thou hast declared thy strength among the people.

14

і прова́див їх хмарою вдень, а ся́йвом огню́ цілу ніч;

15

Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

на пустині Він скелі розсік, і щедро усіх напоїв, як з безо́дні.

16

The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled.

16

Він витягнув із скелі пото́ки, і во́ди текли, немов ріки.

17

The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.

17

Та гріши́ли вони проти Нього ще да́лі, і в пустіші гніви́ли Всевишнього,

18

The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

і Бога вони випробо́вували в своїм серці, для душ своїх ї́жі бажаючи.

19

Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.

19

І вони говорили насу́проти Бога й казали: „Чи Бог зможе в пустині трапе́зу згото́вити?“

20

Thou leddest thy people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

20

Тож ударив у скелю — і во́ди лину́ли, і полили́ся пото́ки! „Чи Він зможе також дати хліба? Чи Він наготує м'яси́ва наро́дові Своє́му?“
