The Ten Commandments

And God spake all these words, saying,

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

— Я — Господь, твой Бог, Который вывел тебя из Египта, земли рабства.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

3

Пусть не будет у тебя других богов, кроме Меня.

4

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

Не делай себе идола — никакого изображения того, что на небе вверху, на земле внизу, или в водах ниже земли.

5

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Не поклоняйся им и не служи им, ведь Я, Господь, твой Бог — ревнивый Бог, наказывающий детей за грехи отцов до третьего и четвертого поколения тех, кто ненавидит Меня,

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

но являющий милость тысячам поколений тех, кто48 любит Меня и соблюдает Мои повеления.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Не используй имени Господа, твоего Бога, напрасно, потому что Господь не оставит безнаказанным никого, кто использует Его имя напрасно.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Помни субботний день и храни его святым.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Шесть дней трудись и делай всю свою работу,

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

10

но седьмой день — это суббота Господу, твоему Богу. Не делай в этот день никакой работы — ни ты, ни твой сын или дочь, ни слуга или служанка, ни твой скот, ни чужеземец в твоих городах.

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

За шесть дней Господь сотворил небеса и землю, море и все, что в них, а на седьмой отдыхал. Поэтому Господь благословил субботний день и освятил его.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Почитай своего отца и мать, чтобы тебе долго жить на земле, которую дает тебе Господь, твой Бог.

Thou shalt not kill.

Не убивай.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Не давай ложного свидетельства на другого.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

17

Не желай дома ближнего твоего. Не желай жены твоего ближнего, его слуги или служанки, его вола или осла: ничего из того, что принадлежит ближнему твоему.

Moses Comforts the People

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

Когда люди увидели гром и молнию, услышали звук рога и увидели гору в дыму, они задрожали от страха. Они встали поодаль

19

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

19

и сказали Моисею:
— Говори с нами ты сам, а мы будем слушать. Пусть Бог не говорит с нами, иначе мы умрем.

20

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

20

Моисей сказал народу:
— Не бойтесь. Бог пришел испытать вас, чтобы вы исполнились страха Божьего перед Ним и не грешили.

21

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

21

Народ остался стоять поодаль, а Моисей приблизился к темному облаку, где был Бог.

Idolatry Forbidden

And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

22

Господь сказал Моисею:
— Скажи израильтянам: «Вы сами видели, что Я говорил с вами с небес:

23

Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

23

не делайте себе серебряных или золотых богов и не поклоняйтесь им вместо Меня.

24

The Altar of Sacrifice

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

Сделайте Мне жертвенник из земли и приносите на нем овец и волов в жертву всесожжения и в жертву примирения. На всяком месте, где Я повелю вам чтить Меня, Я приду к вам и благословлю вас.

25

And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

25

Если станете делать Мне каменный жертвенник, не стройте его из тесаных камней. Вы оскверните его, прикоснувшись к нему резцом.

26

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

26

Не поднимайтесь к Моему жертвеннику по ступеням, чтобы не открылась перед ним ваша нагота».
