The Ten Commandments

And God spake all these words, saying,

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

"Я Господь, Бог ваш, Который вывел вас из Египта, где вы были рабами.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Не поклоняйтесь никаким другим богам кроме Меня.

4

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

4

Не делайте себе идолов, не делайте изображений и картин того, что наверху в небесах, того, что на земле, и того, что внизу в воде.

5

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Не поклоняйтесь идолам и не служите им, ибо Я Господь, Бог ваш, не потерплю, чтобы Мой народ поклонялся другим богам. Те, кто грешит против Меня, становятся моими врагами, и Я наказываю их, и детей их, и внуков их, и даже их правнуков.

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Не употребляйте имя Бога вашего напрасно, ибо виновен тот, кто употребит имя Господа напрасно, и Господь не снимет с него вины!

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Помните, что день субботний — особый день.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

Шесть дней работайте,

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

седьмой же день — день отдыха в честь Господа, Бога вашего, и потому в этот день никто не должен работать: ни ты, ни твои сыновья и дочери, ни твои рабы и рабыни. Даже скот твой и чужестранцы, живущие в ваших городах, не должны работать!

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Ибо Господь трудился шесть дней и сотворил небеса, землю, море и всё, что на них, на седьмой же день Бог отдыхал, благословив тем день субботний, день отдохновения, и сделал его особым днём.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Почитай отца своего и мать свою, чтобы обрести долгую жизнь в стране, которую даёт тебе Господь, Бог твой.

Thou shalt not kill.

Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Thou shalt not steal.

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

17

Не желай дома ближнего твоего, не желай ни жены его, ни слуг его, ни служанок, ни скота его, ни ослов. Не желай ничего, что принадлежит другому!"

Moses Comforts the People

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

18

И всё это время люди в долине слышали гром, видели молнии над горой и поднимавшийся с горы дым. Дрожа от страха, они стояли в отдалении и наблюдали.

19

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

19

И сказал тогда народ Моисею: "Если ты хочешь говорить с нами, мы будем слушать, но попроси Бога не говорить с нами, чтобы нам не умереть".

20

And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.

20

Моисей ответил народу: "Не бойтесь! Господь пришёл в доказательство того, что любит вас. Он хочет, чтобы вы Его почитали и не грешили".

21

And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.

Народ стоял в отдалении от горы, Моисей же пошёл к густому облаку, в котором был Бог,

Idolatry Forbidden

And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

22

и тогда Господь велел Моисею сказать израильскому народу: "Люди, вы видели, что Я говорил с вами с небес,

23

Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.

23

так не делайте же золотых и серебряных идолов против Меня, не делайте этих лжебогов.

24

The Altar of Sacrifice

An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.

Сделайте Мне алтарь из земли и возложите на него всесожжения и приношения содружества, как жертву Мне из ваших овец и скота. Делайте это в тех местах, которые Я отведу вам, чтобы помнить имя Моё, и тогда Я приду благословить вас.

25

And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

Если же будете сооружать алтарь из камней, то не берите камни отёсанные, ибо если поступите так, то орудие сделает алтарь непригодным.

26

Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.

26

И не делайте ступенек, ведущих к алтарю, ибо если будут ступеньки, то люди, поднимая взор к алтарю, увидят то, что у вас под одеждой".
