Warnings against Foolishness
My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

Сын мой, не бери на себя ответственность за долг другого человека. Обещал ли ты вернуть долг другого, если он не может расплатиться сам? Взял ли ты на себя ответственность за чужой долг?
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.
Если так, то ты пойман, твои слова завлекли тебя в ловушку.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.
Ты во власти того человека, поэтому пойди и освободи себя — упрашивай того человека освободить тебя от его долга.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
Не трать время на отдых и даже на сон.
Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Вырвись из этой ловушки и беги, как олень убегает от охотника. Освободи себя, как птица освобождается из силков.
Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Ленивый, ты должен уподобиться муравью, смотри, что делает муравей, учись у него.
Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
но в летнее время муравей собирает себе пищу, складывает её, и зимой он не страдает от голода.
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Ленивец, как долго ты будешь лежать, когда же ты пробудишься от твоего сна?
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Ленивый человек отвечает: "Мне нужно немного поспать, я полежу здесь недолго".
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
Но он спит и спит, и становится всё бедней и бедней. Скоро у него ничего не останется, словно вор придёт и всё утащит.
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
Такой человек ничтожен, он всё время лелеет зло и сеет кругом раздоры.
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
Но он будет наказан, беда придёт к нему неожиданно, он будет в миг уничтожен, и никто не поможет ему.
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
Господь ненавидит шесть, даже семь вещей:
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
Глаза полные гордыни, лживый язык, руки, что убивают невинных,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
лжеца, говорящего судье заведомую ложь, человека, затевающего ссору и драку между другими.
Warnings against Adultery
My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Сын мой, помни наставления отца твоего и не забудь заветов матери твоей.
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
Помни их слова всегда, сделай их частью жизни твоей.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
Их поучения будут сопровождать тебя везде, они будут охранять тебя во время сна, а когда ты проснёшься, они будут говорить с тобой и направлять твои шаги.
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
Заповеди и наставления твоих родителей — свет, указывающий тебе правильный путь. Они исправляют тебя и готовят тебя идти по пути к жизни.
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
Их поучения останавливают тебя на пути к порочной женщине, хранят тебя от льстивых разговоров жены, оставившей своего мужа.
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Эта женщина может быть прекрасной, но не позволяй красоте её гореть в сердце твоём и искушать тебя. Не позволяй её глазам пленять тебя.
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Если человек прольёт на себя огонь, то сгорит и одежда его.
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Если человек наступит на горячие угли, он обожжёт ноги.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
Так же будет страдать и тот, кто спит с чужой женой.
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
Человек может украсть еду, когда голоден.
But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
Если его поймают, он должен платить семикратно, и это может стоить ему всего, что он имеет. Но другие люди поймут его и не будут презирать его за это.
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
Тот, кто совершает прелюбодеяние, разрушает себя. Он по глупости своей навёл это на себя.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
Люди потеряют всё уважение к нему, и он никогда не смоет позора.
For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
Муж неверной женщины впадёт от ревности в ярость и сделает всё, чтоб отомстить.
