And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?

Nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say,
“I have burned half of it in the fire,
Yes, I have also baked bread on its coals;
I have roasted meat and eaten it;
And shall I make the rest of it an abomination?
Shall I fall down before a block of wood?” -

The person who made the idol never stops to reflect,
“Why, it’s just a block of wood!
I burned half of it for heat
and used it to bake my bread and roast my meat.
How can the rest of it be a god?
Should I bow down to worship a piece of wood?” -

И не возьмёт он этого к своему сердцу, и нет у него столько знания и смысла, чтобы сказать: «половину его я сжёг в огне и на угольях его испёк хлеб, изжарил мясо и съел; а из остатка его сделаю ли я мерзость? буду ли поклоняться куску дерева?»

І не візьме собі такий до серця, нема в нього стільки знання й розуму, щоб собі сказати: Таж половину того я спалив на вогні, а на жару спік хліб та насмажив м'яса та й із'їв. Чи то ж з останку я зроблю собі гидоту? Перед поліном битиму поклони?

І не візьме собі такий до серця, нема в його стілько знання й розуму, щоб собі сказати: Та ж половину з того спалив я в огнї, а на жарі спік хлїб та печеню і з'їв те; хиба ж тепер із останку зроблю собі гидоту? Хиба стану бити поклони перед полїном? -
І не покладе́ він до серця свого́, і немає знання́ ані розуму, щоб проказати: „Половину його попали́в я в огні, і на вугі́ллі його я пік хліб, смажив м'ясо та їв. А решту його за оги́ду вчиню́, — буду кланятися дерев'я́ній колоді?“

Никто не задумывается, нет ни знания,
ни понимания, чтобы сказать:
«Половину этого я сжег, испек на углях лепешки,
зажарил мясо и поел.
Стану ли я делать из остатка
омерзительную вещь?
Стану ли поклоняться куску дерева?» -
І не задумалися своїм серцем, і не роздумали у своїй душі. І він не пізнав, щоб зрозуміти, що його половину спалив вогнем і на його жарі спік хлібини і, спікши м’ясо, попоїв, а те, що залишилося з нього, зробив гидотою, і їй поклоняються.
