The Broken Covenant
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,
Весть, которая пришла к Иеремии от Господа:
Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
"Слушай, Иеремия, слова завета и расскажи об этом народу Иудеи и всем, живущим в Иерусалиме.
And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
Так говорит Господь, Бог Израиля: "Каждому, кто не послушает завета, будет плохо".
Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
Я говорю о завете, который Я завещал ещё вашим предкам во времена, когда Я вывел их из Египта, который был полон бед и был похож на раскалённую печь, в которой можно плавить железо. Я сказал им: "Повинуйтесь Мне и делайте всё, что Я вам велю, тогда вы станете Моим народом, и Я буду вашим Богом".
That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.
Я сделал это, чтобы сдержать клятву, которую Я дал вашим предкам. Я обещал дать им плодородную землю, сочащуюся молоком и мёдом. И вы живёте теперь на этой земле". И я, Иеремия, отвечал: "Аминь, Господи!"
Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
Господь сказал мне: "Проповедуй, Иеремия, эту весть в городах Иудеи и на улицах Иерусалима. Вот эта весть: слушайте слова завета и повинуйтесь ему.
For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
Я предупреждал ваших предков с тех пор, как привёл их из земли Египетской, Я предупреждал их вновь и вновь, до этого дня, Я говорил им: "Подчинитесь Мне".
Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.
Но ваши предки не послушали Меня, они упрямо делали то, что желали их злые сердца. Завет говорит, что с ними случится беда, если они не будут Мне повиноваться. Поэтому Я сделал всё, что было сказано в завете, и это с ними случилось. Я повелел им соблюдать завет, но они этого не сделали".
And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Господь сказал мне: "Иеремия, Я знаю, что народ Иудеи и жители Иерусалима устраивают тайный заговор.
They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
Они совершают те же грехи, что их предки, которые отказались слушать Мои слова, они следовали и поклонялись другим богам. Семьи Израиля и семьи Иудеи нарушили завет, который Я заключил с их отцами".
Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.
Поэтому Господь говорит: "Скоро Я совершу с людьми Иудеи нечто ужасное, они не смогут этого избежать, они будут плакать и молить Меня о помощи, но Я не слышу их.
Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.
Люди в городах Иудеи и Иерусалима пойдут и будут молить о помощи своих идолов. Эти люди возжигают благовония идолам, но те не смогут им помочь во время бедствий.
For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.
Народ Иудеи, у вас столько идолов, сколько городов в Иудее, вы поставили столько алтарей для поклонения Ваалу, сколько улиц в Иерусалиме.
Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.
Ты же, Иеремия, не молись за народ Иудеи, не проси за них, не возноси молитв, Я не буду их слушать. Эти люди будут страдать и тогда призовут Меня на помощь, но Я не услышу.
What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
Что Моя возлюбленная делает в доме Моём, где не имеет права быть, ибо совершила много грехов? Ты, Иудея, думаешь, что клятвы и жертвоприношения спасут тебя от страшного уничтожения? Ты думаешь, что, жертвы предлагая Мне, ты наказания избежишь?
The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
Господь тебе дал имя, Он назвал тебя зелёным оливковым деревом, прекрасным, радующим глаз. Но в сильную грозу Господь увидит дерево в огне — все его ветви обгорят.
For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.
Посажено ты Всемогущим Господом, и Он сказал, что на тебя несчастье обрушится за то, что семьи Израиля и Иудеи большое сотворили зло. Они Ваалу жертвы воздавали и этим в гнев Меня повергли".
The Plot against Jeremiah
And the LORD hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.

Господь открыл мне, что люди Анафофа устраивали против меня заговор. Господь мне показал то, что они задумали. И я знал, что они были против меня.
But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
Раныне я был, как нежный барашек, которого ведут на убой, и не понимал, что они замышляют. Они обо мне говорили: "Давайте уничтожим дерево вместе с плодами, давайте его убьём, и люди забудут о нём".
But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
Но, Господи, Ты справедливый судья! Ты знаешь, как испытать человеческие сердца и умы. Я увижу, как Ты их накажешь, потому что я вверил Тебе дело своё.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
Люди из Анафофа хотели убить Иеремию, они сказали ему: "Не проповедуй во имя Господа, а то мы тебя убьём". Но Господь решил, как поступить с этими людьми.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
Господь Всемогущий сказал: "Я скоро накажу людей из Анафофа. Юноши умрут на войне, а сыновья их и дочери умрут от голода.
