The Linen Belt

Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.

Вот что Господь сказал мне: "Иеремия, пойди и купи себе льняной пояс, опояшь им себя и следи, чтобы он не намок".

So I got a girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.

И купил я пояс льняной, как повелел мне Господь, и опоясал себя.

And the word of the LORD came unto me the second time, saying,

И весть Господня пришла ко мне во второй раз:

Take the girdle that thou hast got, which is upon thy loins, and arise, go to Euphrates, and hide it there in a hole of the rock.

"Возьми, Иеремия, пояс, который ты купил, пойди к Евфрату и спрячь его среди камней".

So I went, and hid it by Euphrates, as the LORD commanded me.

Я пошёл к Евфрату и спрятал свой пояс, как велел мне Господь.

And it came to pass after many days, that the LORD said unto me, Arise, go to Euphrates, and take the girdle from thence, which I commanded thee to hide there.

Позже Господь мне сказал: "Иди к Евфрату и возьми свой пояс, который Я велел тебе там спрятать".

Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.

И я пошёл к Евфрату, отыскал свой пояс и вытащил его из-под камней, но теперь я не мог носить его — он был испорчен и стал ни на что не годен.

Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Тогда ко мне опять пришла весть от Господа:

Thus saith the LORD, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.

"Пояс испорчен и ни на что не годен. Так же Я поступлю с гордостью людей Иудеи и с гордостью Иерусалима.

10

This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.

Я уничтожу гордых и злых людей Иерусалима: они отказываются слушать Мои слова, они упрямы и делают то, что хотят, они поклоняются другим богам. Эти люди станут, как льняной пояс, ни на что не годны.

For as the girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.

Так же, как туго обёрнут пояс вокруг тела, так и Я обернул все семьи Израиля и Иудеи вокруг Меня". Так сказал Господь. "Я сделал так, чтобы эти люди стали Моим народом. Тогда бы они принесли Мне славу, честь и хвалу. Но они не послушали Меня".

The Wineskins

Therefore thou shalt speak unto them this word; Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Every bottle shall be filled with wine: and they shall say unto thee, Do we not certainly know that every bottle shall be filled with wine?

"Иеремия, скажи людям Иудеи то, что говорит Господь, Бог Израиля: "Каждый бурдюк должен быть наполнен вином". Эти люди будут смеяться и скажут тебе: "Конечно, мы знаем, что каждый бурдюк должен быть полон вина".

Then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land, even the kings that sit upon David's throne, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, with drunkenness.

Тогда ты скажешь им: это то, что говорит Господь. Я сделаю каждого, кто живёт на этой земле, беспомощным, как пьяный человек. Я говорю о царях, сидящих на троне Давида, о священниках, о пророках и обо всех, кто живёт в Иерусалиме.

And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together, saith the LORD: I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them.

Я заставлю каждого из них спотыкаться и падать на другого — отцы и дети будут падать друг на друга". Это слова Господа: "Я не буду сочувствовать им или испытывать жалость, Я не позволю милосердию остановить Меня, чтобы Я не уничтожил людей Иудеи".

Captivity Threatened

Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud: for the LORD hath spoken.

15

Слушай и внимай, Господь говорил тебе: не будь гордым.

16

Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.

Господу твоему Богу честь воздавай, восхваляй Его, или Он принесёт мрак, восхваляй до того, как пойдёшь на тёмные холмы. Вы, люди Иудеи, надеетесь на свет, но в тьму густую превратит его Господь.

17

But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret places for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD'S flock is carried away captive.

Если, люди Иудеи, вы не послушаете Господа, я спрячусь и буду плакать, и ваша гордыня будет причиной моего горького плача. Глаза мои слезами переполнятся, потому что стадо Господа поймано будет.

18

Say unto the king and to the queen, Humble yourselves, sit down: for your principalities shall come down, even the crown of your glory.

Скажи царю и вдовствующей царице, чтобы с тронов сошли. Короны с их голов уже упали.

The cities of the south shall be shut up, and none shall open them: Judah shall be carried away captive all of it, it shall be wholly carried away captive.

Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?

Иерусалим, слушай, с севера подходит враг. Где твоё прекрасное стадо, данное тебе Господом? Ты должен был заботиться о нём.

What wilt thou say when he shall punish thee? for thou hast taught them to be captains, and as chief over thee: shall not sorrows take thee, as a woman in travail?

Что ты скажешь, когда Господь предъявит тебе счёт? Научить о Боге ты должен был свой народ. Твои вожди должны были вести людей, но долга своего не выполнили. Поэтому схватят тебя боли, как роженицу.

22

And if thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare.

Ты можешь спросить себя: "За что мне всё это?" За то, что твои грехи бессчётны, юбка порвана твоя и ноги босы. Ты несёшь на себе свой позор.

23

Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

Как чернокожий человек не может изменить цвет кожи, как барс не может своих пятен сбросить, так и Иерусалим не может измениться и зло творит всегда.

24

Therefore will I scatter them as the stubble that passeth away by the wind of the wilderness.

"Я заставлю тебя покинуть дома твои. Ты побежишь во все стороны, ты будешь как солома, которую разносит ветер пустыни.

25

This is thy lot, the portion of thy measures from me, saith the LORD; because thou hast forgotten me, and trusted in falsehood.

25

Всё, что с тобой случится — только часть плана Моего, за то, что ты Меня забыл и верил чужим богам". Так говорит Господь.

Therefore will I discover thy skirts upon thy face, that thy shame may appear.

26

"Я задеру юбку твою тебе на лицо, и все тебя увидят и застыдят.

27

I have seen thine adulteries, and thy neighings, the lewdness of thy whoredom, and thine abominations on the hills in the fields. Woe unto thee, O Jerusalem! wilt thou not be made clean? when shall it once be?

27

Я видел мерзости, которые ты творила, Я слышал смех твой и прелюбодейство, Я знаю похотливость твоих планов, Я видел тебя на холмах и в поле. Горе будет тебе, Иерусалим, долго ли ещё будешь пребывать в этих грязных грехах?"
