A Warning for Judah's Kings

Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

Господь сказал: "Иеремия, иди во дворец к царю Иудеи и возвести:

And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

"Ты правишь с трона Давида, поэтому выслушай, царь, ты и твои правители должны внимательно слушать. Все твои люди, которые проходят через ворота Иерусалима, слушать должны эту весть от Господа.

Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

Творите только то, что праведно и справедливо, защищайте ограбленного от грабителя, не притесняйте вдов и сирот, не убивайте невинных.

For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

Если вы подчинитесь этим повелениям, то цари, сидящие на троне Давида, будут входить в ворота Иерусалима. Они пройдут через ворота со своими слугами, проедут на колесницах и лошадях.

But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

А если вы не сделаете этого, то вот что говорит Господь: Я, Господь, обещаю, что этот царский дворец будет превращён в груду камней"". Так говорит Господь дому царя Иудейского:

A Warning about the Palace

For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

"Высок дворец, как лес Галаада, высок дворец, как горы Ливана, но Я его в пустыню превращу и сделаю необитаемым.

7

And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

Я пошлю людей, чтоб тот дворец разрушить, и у каждого будет своё оружие для разрушения дворца. Они колонны кедровые срубят и бросят их в огонь.

8

And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

Люди разных народов будут проходить мимо этого города и спрашивать друг у друга: "Почему так Господь обошёлся с Иерусалимом, этим великим городом?"

9

Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

9

И услышат ответ: "Господь разрушил Иерусалим потому, что люди перестали соблюдать заветы Господа, их Бога, они поклонялись и служили другим богам"".

A Warning about Jehoahaz

Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

"Не плачьте о мёртвом царе, не плачьте. Но о царе, который покидает вас, плачьте горше, ибо он назад не возвратится никогда и не увидит родины своей".

For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:

Так говорил Господь о Саллуме, сыне Иосии, (Саллум стал царём после смерти отца своего Иосии). "Саллум покинул Иерусалим, он никогда обратно не вернётся.

12

But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.

12

Он умрёт там, куда уведут его египтяне, и никогда больше не увидит этой земли".

A Warning about Jehoiakim

Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

13

Горе будет царю Иоакиму за то, что он строит дворец свой неправдою. Верхние комнаты строит он с помощью беззакония и заставляет ближнего работать даром, никому не платя.

14

That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

Иоаким говорит: "Я построю себе великий дворец с просторными залами". Он делает окна большие, он обшивает стены кедром, покрывает их красною краской.

15

Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?

Иоаким, ты думаешь, что станешь великим царём, имея палаты из кедра великого? Твой отец Иосия довольствовался едой и питьём и всегда был справедлив.

16

He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.

Иосия всегда помогал нуждающимся и бедным, и ему было хорошо. Иоаким, что значит "Знать Господа?" Это значит быть праведным во всём. Так говорит Господь.

17

But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

Только выгоду видят глаза твои, Иоаким. Ты думаешь всегда о собственной корысти, всегда готов убить или украсть.

18

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

Поэтому Господь говорит Иоакиму, сыну Иосии: "Тебя оплакивать не будут люди, когда умрёшь ты. Никто не скажет: "О, мой брат, как горько!" или "Сестра, как грустно мне!" По Иоакиму Иудея не заплачет: "О царь, как плохо без тебя!"

He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

Тебя похоронят, как хоронят ослов, просто выбросят тело твоё за ворота Иерусалима.

20

Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

20

Кричи, Иудея, в Ливанских горах. Да будет голос твой в горах Васана слышен! Кричи на кручах Аварима, ибо любовники твои разбиты будут.

21

I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

Ты думаешь, что нет вокруг тебя опасности, тебя предупреждал Я, но, Иудея, ты Меня не стала слушать, Иудея, как не слушала в дни юности своей.

22

The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

22

Моё наказание настигнет тебя, как гроза, и всех пастухов твоих унесёт ветром. На помощь других ты надеялась, но другие народы тоже будут побеждены. И позор постигнет тебя.

23

O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

Во дворце из кедра, высоко в горах живёшь ты, царь, как будто ты в Ливане. Но ты застонешь, как от родовых болей, когда тебя постигнет наказание".

A Warning for Jehoiachin

As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

"Столь же верно, как Я живу, — сказал Господь, — Я это сделаю с тобою, Иехония, сын Иоакима, царь Иудейский. Даже если бы ты был перстнем на Моей правой руке, Я бы всё равно тебя сорвал.

25

And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

Иехония, Я отдам тебя Навуходоносору, царю Вавилонскому, и вавилонцам, людям, которых ты боишься. Они хотят убить тебя.

26

And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

26

Я заброшу тебя и твою мать, которая тебя родила, в другую страну, где вы не родились, но где умрёте.

27

But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

27

Ты захочешь прийти, Иехония, в землю свою, но тебе никогда не будет позволено вернуться.

28

Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

Ты, Иехония, будешь как разбитый и выброшенный, никому не нужный горшок. За что он вместе с детьми своими выброшен будет в незнакомые земли?

O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

29

Земля, земля, земля Иудеи, слушай весть от Господа!

30

Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.

30

Запишите об Иехонии, как о человеке, у которого уже нет детей. Ему не будет в жизни удачи, и никто из его детей не сядет на трон Давида, чтобы править Иудеей".
