I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.

The shepherds with their flocks shall come unto her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.

Вставай, пойдём и ночью нападём, разрушим стены крепкие вокруг Иерусалима".

Вот что говорит Всемогущий Господь: "Срубите деревья вокруг Иерусалима и сделайте осадный вал; достоин наказанья этот город: в нём ничего нет, кроме угнетения.
As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.
Как свежая вода буреет у мельницы, так в Иерусалиме злоба. Я слышу о насилиях, грабежах в том городе. Я вижу боль и раны в Иерусалиме постоянно.
Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.
Иерусалим, предупреждаю, слушай, но если не послушаешься, Я спиною повернусь к тебе и землю твою сделаю пустыней, в которой жить никто не сможет".

Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out upon the children abroad, and upon the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
Но полон Я Господним гневом, Я сдерживать его устал. Пролью его на юношей и на детей, играющих на улице, пролью на мужа и на жену, на стариков.

"Ибо корыстны стали люди, Всё больше денег люди все хотят, все — от ничтожных до значительных — корыстны, все — от пророков до священников — во лжи.
They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Большую боль народ Мой претерпел, пророки и священники должны на раны наложить повязки, но, как царапины, они врачуют раны. Они говорят, что раны не опасны. Но раны те смертельны.
Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.
Пророкам и священникам должно быть стыдно за свои поступки, но нет у них стыда за их грехи — и ждёт их наказание, как и всех. Я брошу оземь их, когда приду наказывать людей". Так говорит Господь.
Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Сказал Господь: "На перекрёстке встаньте и посмотрите, где была старая дорога; спросите, где хорошая дорога, и если вы по ней пойдёте, то отыщете всё остальное сами. Но вы ответили: "Нет, не пойдём!"
Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken.
Я стражу выбрал, чтоб следить за вами, сказав, чтоб трубы слушали они. Но Мне ответили они: "Не будем слушать!"
Therefore hear, ye nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.
Итак, послушайте, народы! Смотрите, что сделаю Я с ними.
Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
Услышьте, люди всей земли: Я наведу беду на Иудею, за всё задуманное зло, за то, что слов Моих не слушали они и отказались соблюдать закон.
To what purpose cometh there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
Зачем вы ладан принесли из Савы и сладостный тростник из дальних стран? Мне ваши всесожженья не приносят и малой радости. Мне ваши жертвы не нужны".
Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumblingblocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall upon them; the neighbour and his friend shall perish.
Так говорит Господь. "Я пошлю большие трудности народам Иудеи. Они, как камни, их заставят спотыкаться — отцы и дети упадут, соседи и друзья погибнут".

Так говорит Господь: "С севера идёт большая армия, и нация великая встаёт на дальней стороне земли.
They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roareth like the sea; and they ride upon horses, set in array as men for war against thee, O daughter of Zion.
Несут солдаты луки и стрелы, они жестоки и немилосердны, они сильны, и, когда скачут, они похожи на ревущий океан; они идут, готовые к сраженью, идут, чтобы напасть на дочь Сиона".
We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish hath taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
Мы весть о них услышали — мы в страхе: мы пойманы в капканы наших бед, беспомощны, как роженица.
Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.

"Иеремия, тебе велю работником Я стать, который пробует металлы. Испытывать Моих людей ты будешь и наблюдать, что делают они.

Против Меня повернулись люди Мои, они упрямы, клевещут друг на друга, они, как бронза и железо, которые от ржавчины тускнеют.
The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.
Они похожи на плавильщика, который пытался сделать чистым серебро, но слишком сильное раздул он пламя в мехах — и только олово осталось, и время потерял плавильщик. Вот так же не очистился и Мой народ от зла.
