Idolatrous Elders Condemned

Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.

1

Некоторые из старейшин Израиля пришли ко мне и сели передо мной.

And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

И было ко мне слово Господа:

Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be inquired of at all by them?

— Сын человеческий, эти люди воздвигли идолов у себя в сердце и положили пред собой свой грех, как преграду, о которую спотыкаются. Разве Мне вообще следует позволять им спрашивать Меня?

Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;

Говори же с ними и скажи им: «Так говорит Владыка Господь: Когда кто-либо из израильтян воздвигает у себя в сердце идолов и кладет перед собой свой грех, словно преграду, о которую спотыкается, и потом все же идет к пророку, то Я, Господь, Сам отвечу ему так, как заслуживает его вопиющее идолопоклонство,

That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.

чтобы вернуть к Себе сердца израильтян, которые оставили Меня ради идолов».

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

Поэтому скажи дому Израиля: «Так говорит Владыка Господь: Покайтесь! Отвернитесь от идолов и оставьте свои омерзительные обычаи!

7

For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to inquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:

Если кто-либо из израильтян или живущих в Израиле чужеземцев отвернется от Меня, воздвигнет у себя в сердце идолов и положит перед собой свой грех, как преграду, о которую спотыкается, но потом все же пойдет к пророку, чтобы спросить Меня через него, то Я, Господь, Сам отвечу ему.

And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

8

Я обращу лицо Мое против этого человека и сделаю его уроком и притчей на устах. Я изгоню его из Моего народа. Тогда вы узнаете, что Я — Господь.

9

And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.

Если же пророк в заблуждении произносит пророчество, то это потому, что Я, Господь, ввел его в заблуждение, и Я протяну против него руку и изгоню его из Моего народа, Израиля.

10

And they shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the punishment of the prophet shall be even as the punishment of him that seeketh unto him;

Они понесут свою кару — кара вопрошающего и кара пророка будет равной,

11

That the house of Israel may go no more astray from me, neither be polluted any more with all their transgressions; but that they may be my people, and I may be their God, saith the Lord GOD.

чтобы дом Израиля впредь не уклонялся от Меня и больше не осквернял себя своими грехами. Тогда они будут Моим народом, а Я буду их Богом», — возвещает Владыка Господь.

God's Irrevocable Sentence

The word of the LORD came again to me, saying,

Было ко мне слово Господа:

13

Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:

13

— Сын человеческий, если страна согрешит против Меня отступничеством, то Я протяну руку, чтобы уничтожить запасы пищи в ней, наслать на нее голод и погубить в ней людей и скот.

14

Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.

Даже если бы Ной, Даниил44 и Иов, эти трое, были в ней, то они спасли бы своей праведностью только свои жизни, — возвещает Владыка Господь. —

15

If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:

Или если бы Я наслал на эту страну диких зверей для ее опустошения, чтобы она пришла в такое запустение, что никто не смог бы пройти по ней из-за зверей,

16

Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.

то верно, как и то, что Я живу, — возвещает Владыка Господь, — что если бы эти трое были в ней, они не смогли бы спасти ни своих сыновей, ни своих дочерей. Они спаслись бы сами, но страна была бы опустошена.

17

Or if I bring a sword upon that land, and say, Sword, go through the land; so that I cut off man and beast from it:

Или если бы Я послал на эту страну меч, сказав: «Пусть меч пройдет по стране и погубит в ней людей и скот»,

18

Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters, but they only shall be delivered themselves.

18

то верно, как и то, что Я живу, — возвещает Владыка Господь, — даже если бы эти трое были в ней, они не смогли бы спасти ни своих сыновей, ни своих дочерей, а спаслись бы лишь сами.

19

Or if I send a pestilence into that land, and pour out my fury upon it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast:

Или если бы Я наслал на эту страну мор и излил бы гнев на нее в кровопролитии, губя людей и скот,

20

Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness.

20

то верно, как и то, что Я живу, — возвещает Владыка Господь, — даже если бы Ной, Даниил и Иов были в ней, они не смогли бы спасти ни сына, ни дочери, а спаслись бы лишь сами благодаря своей праведности.

21

For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?

Так говорит Владыка Господь:
— Как же страшно будет, когда Я пошлю на Иерусалим четыре страшных казни: меч, голод, диких зверей и мор, чтобы погубить там людей и скот!

22

Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.

Но в нем останутся и уцелевшие, их сыновья и дочери, которых выведут из него. Они придут к вам, и, увидев их поступки и дела, вы утешитесь о бедствии, которое Я наслал на Иерусалим, о всяком бедствии, которое Я наслал на него.

23

And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.

Вы утешитесь, увидев их поступки и дела, потому что вы узнаете, что Я ничего не делал в нем без причины, — возвещает Владыка Господь.
