When I would have healed Israel, then the iniquity of Ephraim was discovered, and the wickedness of Samaria: for they commit falsehood; and the thief cometh in, and the troop of robbers spoileth without.

Коли я почав лїчити-оздоровляти Ізраїля, виявилась неправедність Ефраїмова й лиходїйство Самариї; і ось, влазить злодїй, а розбишака рабує по улицях.
And they consider not in their hearts that I remember all their wickedness: now their own doings have beset them about; they are before my face.
Вони й не здогадуються в серцях своїх, що я про їх ледарство знаю; і так тепер намножились і обгорнули їх ледарства їх, а всї вони перед лицем у мене.
They make the king glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their lies.
Лиходїйством своїм звеселяють вони царя, оманами своїми — князїв.
They are all adulterers, as an oven heated by the baker, who ceaseth from raising after he hath kneaded the dough, until it be leavened.
Всї вони палають перелюбством, як піч, розпалена пекарем, що не підкладує дров, як замісить тїсто й воно вкисне.
In the day of our king the princes have made him sick with bottles of wine; he stretched out his hand with scorners.
День царський у нас! князї розгорячились до впаду вином, а царь простягає руку свою до висьмівників.
For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.
Зрада запалює їх серце, як піч; пекарь їх спить всю ніч, а вранцї горить вона палаючим огнем.
They are all hot as an oven, and have devoured their judges; all their kings are fallen: there is none among them that calleth unto me.
Всї вони, мов ті розпалені печі, палають; та й своїх суддїв глитають; падає царь за царем, не озвавшись до мене.
Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
Ефраїм перемішався з народами чужими; Ефраїм, мов паляниця, не обертана (на жару), спалився.
Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.
Поїдають його силу чужоземцї, а йому про те й байдуже, вже посивіло й волоссє, він же й не бачить.
And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.
Гордощі Ізраїля понизені в їх таки очах, а таки вони не обернулись до Господа, Бога свого й не шукали його.
Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
Ефраїм — немов той голуб безглуздий; кличе Египтян, ійде в Ассирию.
When they shall go, I will spread my net upon them; I will bring them down as the fowls of the heaven; I will chastise them, as their congregation hath heard.
Та коли вони туди пійдуть, закину я на них сїть мою; мов те птаство піднебесне, я їх половлю-повалю, та й скараю, як се чула їх громада.
Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against me.
Горе їм, що вони відхилились зпід руки моєї; загибок їм, що так зрадливо відцурались від мене! Я рятував їх, вони ж неправду говорили проти мене.
And they have not cried unto me with their heart, when they howled upon their beds: they assemble themselves for corn and wine, and they rebel against me.
Не обертались усїм серцем своїм до мене, коли голосили на постелях своїх; горнуться до хлїба й вина, а від мене далеко відходять.
Though I have bound and strengthened their arms, yet do they imagine mischief against me.
Я навчав їх, скріпляв у них руки, а вони придумували ворохобню проти мене.
They return, but not to the most High: they are like a deceitful bow: their princes shall fall by the sword for the rage of their tongue: this shall be their derision in the land of Egypt.
Вони обертались, та не до Всевишнього, поробились — як той лук несправний; поляжуть від меча князї їх за язик свій гордий; се буде насьміхом над ними в землї Египецькій.
