The Sin of Nadab and Abihu

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.

А два Ааронові сини, Надав та Авіюд, узявши кожен свою кадильницю, поклали в них вогню, вкинули в них ладану і принесли перед Господом сторонній вогонь, — якого Господь не велів їм приносити.

And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.

Тоді від Господа вийшов вогонь і поглинув їх, — і вони померли перед Господом.

Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

Мойсей сказав Ааронові: Це те, про що говорив Господь, кажучи: Тими, хто наближається до Мене, Я повинен святитися і в усій громаді повинен прославлятися. І Аарон розчулився.

And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the camp.

Тоді Мойсей покликав Місаїла та Елісафана, синів Озіїла, синів брата Ааронового батька, і сказав їм: Підійдіть і заберіть своїх братів від облич святих за табір.

So they went near, and carried them in their coats out of the camp; as Moses had said.

And Moses said unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rend your clothes; lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, the whole house of Israel, bewail the burning which the LORD hath kindled.

Тоді Мойсей сказав Ааронові та його синам, які залишилися, Елеазарові й Ітамарові: Не знімайте зі своїх голів клобуків і не роздирайте свого одягу, щоб ви не померли і на всю громаду не впав гнів. Нехай ваші брати, увесь дім Ізраїля, оплакують спалення, яким вони були спалені Господом.

And ye shall not go out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the LORD is upon you. And they did according to the word of Moses.

А ви не відходьте від входу в намет свідчення, щоб ви не померли, бо на вас — олія помазання, що від Господа. І вони вчинили згідно зі словом Мойсея.

Restrictions for Priests

And the LORD spake unto Aaron, saying,

Господь промовив до Аарона, кажучи:

Do not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye go into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations:

Коли входитимете в намет свідчення чи підходитимете до жертовника, ні ти, ні твої сини, що з тобою, не питимете вина чи міцного напою — і не помрете. Це — вічний закон для ваших поколінь,

10

And that ye may put difference between holy and unholy, and between unclean and clean;

10

щоб розрізняти між собою святе і не святе, нечисте і чисте.

11

And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the LORD hath spoken unto them by the hand of Moses.

І навчиш ізраїльських синів усіх законів, які Господь дав їм через Мойсея.

12

And Moses spake unto Aaron, and unto Eleazar and unto Ithamar, his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy:

Мойсей сказав Ааронові та Аароновим синам, які залишилися, Елеазарові й Ітамарові: Візьміть [хлібну] жертву, що залишилася з Господніх [вогняних] приношень, і споживіть опрісноки біля жертовника. Це є святе святих.

13

And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy due, and thy sons' due, of the sacrifices of the LORD made by fire: for so I am commanded.

Споживіть її у святому місці, бо це — закон тобі й закон твоїм синам із Господніх [вогняних] приношень; так бо мені звелів Господь.

14

And the wave breast and heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place; thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they be thy due, and thy sons' due, which are given out of the sacrifices of peace offerings of the children of Israel.

Також грудинку [жертви] відлучення та лопатку [жертви] відділення споживіть на святому місці — ти, твої сини і твій дім із тобою, — бо це було дано із жертв спасіння ізраїльських синів як закон тобі і як закон твоїм синам.

15

The heave shoulder and the wave breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to wave it for a wave offering before the LORD; and it shall be thine, and thy sons' with thee, by a statute for ever; as the LORD hath commanded.

Люди приноситимуть лопатку [жертви] відділення і грудинку [жертви] відлучення з [вогняними] приношеннями жиру, щоб відлучити як [жертву] відлучення перед Господом, — і це буде тобі, твоїм синам і твоїм дочкам із тобою як вічний закон, як Господь і звелів Мойсеєві.

And Moses diligently sought the goat of the sin offering, and, behold, it was burnt: and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, the sons of Aaron which were left alive, saying,

Мойсей розшукував [1] козеня [жертви] за гріх, та виявилося, що воно було спалене! Тож Мойсей розгнівався на Елеазара й Ітамара, Ааронових синів, які залишилися, кажучи:

Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy, and God hath given it you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD?

Чому ви не спожили [жертви] за гріх на святому місці? Адже це — святе святих! Він дав це вам, щоб спожити, щоб ви усунули гріх громади і звершили за них викуплення перед Господом!

18

Behold, the blood of it was not brought in within the holy place: ye should indeed have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded.

Адже його крові не було внесено до святого! Споживатимете його перед Його обличчям, усередині, на святому місці, як Господь мені звелів.

19

And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD; and such things have befallen me: and if I had eaten the sin offering to day, should it have been accepted in the sight of the LORD?

Тоді Аарон промовив до Мойсея, кажучи: Якщо вони сьогодні принесли свої [жертви] за гріх і свої всепалення перед Господом, і мені трапились ці речі, — то якщо я споживу [жертви] за гріх сьогодні, чи буде це приємне для Господа?

And when Moses heard that, he was content.
