Holiness Required of Priests

And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

1

Господь промовив до Мойсея, кажучи: Промов до священиків, синів Аарона, та скажи їм: Хай вони не оскверняються, торкаючись до померлих зі свого народу,

2

But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,

хіба що до свого найближчого родича: через батька, матір, синів, дочок, через брата

3

And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

3

чи через незайману, близьку йому сестру, ще не видану заміж, — йому можна осквернитися тільки через них.

4

But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

4

Поза цим хай він раптово не оскверняється у своєму народі, щоб не опоганити себе.

5

They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

Не виголюйте собі на голові лисини за мерця; хай вони не обголюють собі вигляду бороди і не вирізують на своїх тілах нарізів.

6

They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

Нехай будуть святими для свого Бога і не опоганюють Ім’я свого Бога, бо вони приносять Господні жертви, дари свого Бога, — тож нехай будуть святими.

7

They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

7

Хай не беруть собі за жінку розпусниці, опоганеної чи жінки, відпущеної її чоловіком, бо священик є святим для Господа, свого Бога,

8

Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.

і він освячуватиме його. Він приносить дари Господа, вашого Бога, нехай буде святим, бо Я, Господь, який освячує їх, — святий.

9

And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

9

Якщо дочка якогось священика опоганиться, чинячи розпусту, то вона опоганює ім’я свого батька — нехай така буде спалена у вогні.

10

And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

А вищий від своїх братів священик, на голову якого було полито олію помазання, і який був посвячений, щоб одягати ризи, — хай не знімає з голови клобука, не роздирає риз,

11

Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

11

і не входить до жодної померлої душі; хай не оскверняється ні через свого батька, ні через свою матір.

12

Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.

12

Хай він не виходить зі святих приміщень і не опоганює те, що посвячене його Богові, бо на ньому — свята олія, помазання Боже. Я — Господь.

13

And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

13

За дружину він може взяти лише дівчину зі свого роду;

14

A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

14

вдови, відпущеної, опоганеної чи розпусниці — таких хай він не бере, але нехай візьме за дружину тільки дівчину зі свого роду,

15

Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him.

15

— і не опоганить своїх нащадків у своєму народі; Я — Господь, Який його освячує.

16

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

16

Господь промовив до Мойсея, кажучи:

17

Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

17

Скажи Ааронові: Жодний чоловік із твого роду у ваших майбутніх поколіннях, якщо у нього буде якась вада, хай не приходить приносити дари своєму Богові.

18

Restrictions against Those with Blemishes

For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,

Хай не приходить жодний чоловік, в якого буде якась вада: жодний кульгавий чоловік, чи сліпий, чи зі знівеченим носом, чи з відсіченими вухами,

19

Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,

19

чи чоловік, в якого буде перелом руки або перелом ноги,

20

Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

20

чи горбатий, чи з більмом або хворими повіками на оці, чи чоловік, в якого буде злоякісна короста чи парші, чи з одним яєчком, —

21

No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

21

ніхто з нащадків священика Аарона, у кого буде будь-яка вада, хай не наближається, щоб приносити жертви твоєму Богові, бо у нього є вада, — хай він не приходить приносити Божі дари.

22

He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

22

Божі дари — це святе святих, — і він може їсти зі святого;

23

Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.

23

тільки хай не підходить до завіси й не наближається до жертовника, бо він має ваду. Хай не опоганює святині свого Бога, бо Я є Господь, яких їх освячує.

24

And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.

24

Так Мойсей і промовляв до Аарона та його синів і до всіх синів Ізраїля.
