Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
І Господь наказав великому китові поглинути Йону. І Йона перебував у череві кита три дні й три ночі.
And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Йона помолився до свого Господа Бога із черева кита
For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
і сказав: Я закричав у моїй печалі до мого Господа Бога, і Він мене вислухав! З утроби аду Ти почув мій крик, мій голос.
Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
Ти мене кинув у глибину серця моря, і мене оточили потоки. Усі Твої висоти і Твої хвилі зійшли на мене.
The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
І я сказав: Я відкинений від Твоїх очей. Тож чи зможу поглянути на Твій святий храм?
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.
Полилася довкола мене вода, аж до душі, мене оточила остання безодня, моя голова зійшла в ущелини гір.
When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
Я зійшов у землю, в якої її засуви — вічні засуви, і нехай підніметься тління мого життя, мій Господи Боже!
They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
Коли в мені зникала моя душа, я згадав Господа, і нехай до Тебе зайде моя молитва, до Твого святого храму.
But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.
Хто береже марне і оманливе, залишили своє милосердя.
