The People Complain

And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

Народ стал роптать о своих невзгодах. Господь услышал ропот и разгневался, и запылал среди народа огонь Господний и сжёг часть края стана.

And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

Народ воззвал к Моисею о помощи, и когда Моисей помолился Господу, огонь потух.

And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

И назвали то место Тавера, потому что Господний огонь загорелся у них в стане.

And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.

And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.

Манна была подобна кориандровому семени, а по виду напоминала древесную смолу.

And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.

Народ собирал манну, толок её в ступе и варил в горшках или же перемалывал в муку и делал из неё тонкие лепёшки, по вкусу напоминавшие сладкие лепёшки, испечённые с елеем.

And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

Манна каждую ночь падала на землю, когда выпадала роса.

The Complaint of Moses

Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.

Моисей услышал ропот народа, каждая семья сидела у своего шатра и роптала. Господь сильно разгневался, и Моисей был этим очень огорчён.

11

And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?

Он спросил у Господа: "Господи, почему Ты послал мне такую беду? Я — слуга Твой, так в чём же я провинился, чем разгневал Тебя? Для чего Ты возложил на меня ответственность за весь этот народ?

12

Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?

Ты ведь знаешь, что я не отец этого народа, знаешь, что я не родил его, так почему же принуждаешь меня заботиться о нём, словно нянька, носящая дитя на руках, почему вынуждаешь меня нести их на руках в ту землю, которую Ты обещал нашим отцам?

13

Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.

Откуда мне взять мяса на весь этот народ! Они ропщут и говорят мне: "Дай нам мяса!"

14

I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.

14

Я один не могу заботиться обо всём этом народе, для меня это слишком тяжёлое бремя.

15

And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

15

Если Ты и впредь будешь возлагать на меня их беды, то лучше умертви меня прямо сейчас, если принимаешь меня как слугу Своего. Тогда кончатся все мои беды!"

16

Seventy Elders to Help Moses

And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.

16

И сказал Господь Моисею: "Приведи ко Мне семьдесят израильских старейшин, вождей твоего народа. Приведи их в шатёр собрания и пусть они там стоят вместе с тобой.

17

And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

Тогда Я сойду и буду говорить там с тобой. На тебе Дух уже сейчас, но Я дам и им часть этого Духа, и тогда они помогут тебе заботиться о народе, чтобы не тебе одному отвечать за него.

18

The People Receive Meat for a Month

And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

Скажи народу: Подготовьтесь к завтрашнему дню. Завтра будете есть мясо, ибо Господь слышал, как вы плачете, и слышал, как вы говорите: "Где нам взять мяса! Нам было лучше в Египте!" И вот теперь Господь даст вам мясо, и вы будете есть его!

19

Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;

19

Вы будете есть это мясо не один, не два, не пять, не десять и даже не двадцать дней!

20

But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?

20

Будете есть это мясо целый месяц, будете есть его, пока оно вам не опротивеет! И будет это вам за то, что вы роптали на Господа! Господь обитает среди вас и знает ваши нужды, вы же плакали и роптали на Него, говоря: "И зачем только мы ушли из Египта?!""

21

Moses' Faith Staggered

And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.

21

Моисей ответил: "Господи, здесь идёт 600000 человек, а Ты говоришь: "Я дам им столько мяса, что им хватит его на целый месяц!"

22

Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?

22

Даже если бы мы закололи всех наших овец и крупный скот, то еды всё равно бы не хватило такому количеству народа на целый месяц! И даже если бы мы поймали всю рыбу в море, её всё равно бы на всех не хватило!"

23

And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

23

Господь ответил Моисею: "Разве силе Господней есть предел? Увидишь, Я сделаю всё, как сказал!"

24

And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.

24

Моисей пошёл, поговорил с народом, рассказал им, что сказал Господь, потом собрал семьдесят старейшин и велел им встать вокруг шатра собрания.

25

And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

25

И тогда Господь сошёл в облаке и стал говорить с Моисеем. На Моисее был Дух, и Господь дал часть этого Духа семидесяти старейшинам, и как только Дух сошёл на них, они стали пророчествовать, но это случилось с ними только один раз.

26

But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.

Двое старейшин, Елдад и Модад, не пошли к шатру, а остались в стане, хотя их имена и были в списке. Но Дух сошёл и на них, и они тоже стали пророчествовать в стане.

27

And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.

27

К Моисею прибежал юноша и сказал: "Елдад и Модад пророчествуют в стане".

28

And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

28

Иисус, сын Навина, с молодых лет помогавший Моисею, сказал ему: "Господин мой, Моисей! Запрети им!"

29

And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

29

Но Моисей ответил: "Ты боишься, что народ подумает, что я им больше не вождь? Я бы хотел, чтобы весь народ Господний мог пророчествовать, чтобы Господь всем им дал Свой Дух!"

30

And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

30

И возвратился Моисей в стан вместе с израильскими старейшинами.

31

The Quail and the Plague

And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.

Господь послал сильный ветер с моря, и он принёс в те края перепелов и разбросал их около стана. Перепелов было столько, что вся земля была покрыта ими; они покрывали её метровым слоем, перепела были повсюду, на день пути в любую сторону.

32

And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

Люди бросились собирать перепелов, собирали весь день, всю ночь и весь следующий день, и даже тот, кто собрал мало, набрал шестьдесят корзин. Они разложили мясо перепелов по всему стану

33

And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

33

и стали его есть. Но Господь был сильно разгневан и сделал так, что, когда мясо ещё было у людей во рту и не было ещё съедено, их поражала страшная болезнь.

34

And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.

34

И назвал народ это место Киброт-Гаттаава, ибо там похоронили тех, у кого была прихоть есть мясо.

35

And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.

35

Из Киброт-Гаттаава народ отправился в Асироф и там остановился.
