The Daughters of Zelophehad

Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

Якось прийшли дочки Салпаада, сина Офера, сина Ґалаада, сина Махіра, з роду Манасії, з Йосифових синів. Ось їхні імена: Маала, Нуа, Еґла, Мелха і Терса.

And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

Вони стали перед Мойсеєм і перед священиком Елеазаром, і перед князями, і перед усією громадою біля входу в намет свідчення й кажуть:

Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

Наш батько помер у пустелі, та він не був серед натовпу, який збунтувався перед Господом у громаді Коре, але помер за свій власний гріх, а синів він не мав.

4

Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

Щоб не було викреслене ім’я нашого батька з його роду, оскільки він не має сина, то дайте нам спадок серед братів нашого батька!

And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

І Мойсей виклав їхню справу перед Господом.

The Law of Inheritances

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

А Господь промовив до Мойсея, кажучи:

7

The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

7

Правильно сказали дочки Салпаада. Даси їм дар — володіння в спадщину поміж синами їхнього батька, і передаси їм частку їхнього батька.

8

And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

8

Тож скажеш ізраїльським синам, промовляючи: Якщо людина помре і не матиме сина, то передасте його спадщину його дочці.

9

And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

9

Якщо ж він не матиме і дочки, то дасте спадщину його братові.

10

And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.

10

Якщо ж він не матиме і братів, то дасте спадщину братові його батька.

11

And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Якщо ж не буде й братів у його батька, то дасте спадщину його найближчому родичеві з його племені, — хай він успадкує те, що його. І це стане для ізраїльських синів судовим рішенням, згідно із заповіддю Господа Мойсеєві.

Moses Asks for a Successor

And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

12

І сказав Господь Мойсеєві: Зійди на гору, що на тому боці, — це гора Навав, — і поглянь на Ханаанську землю, яку Я даю ізраїльським синам у власність.

13

And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

13

Ти побачиш її і приєднаєшся до свого народу, — як твій брат Аарон приєднався на горі Ор, — так само і ти.

14

For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

Адже ви порушили Моє слово в пустелі Сін, коли громада противилася, щоб святити Мене. Ви Мене не святили перед ними біля води. (Це — Вода Сперечання, Кадиса, у пустелі Сін).

And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,

Тоді Мойсей сказав Господу:

16

Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

16

Хай Господь, Бог духів і всякого тіла, вибере чоловіка для цієї громади,

17

Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

17

який виходитиме перед ними і який входитиме перед ними, який виводитиме їх і який вводитиме їх; і Господня громада не буде, як отара, що не має пастуха.

18

Joshua to Succeed Moses

And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

18

А Господь промовив до Мойсея, кажучи: Візьми до себе Ісуса, сина Навина, чоловіка, який має в собі Духа, і поклади на нього свої руки.

19

And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

19

Ти поставиш його перед священиком Елеазаром і заповіси йому перед усією громадою, і заповіси про нього перед ними,

20

And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

20

і наділиш його частиною своєї слави, щоб його слухалися ізраїльські сини.

21

And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

21

І він стане перед священиком Елеазаром, і запитають про нього перед Господом рішення Об’явлення. За його вказівкою виходитимуть і за його вказівкою входитимуть — він та ізраїльські сини, уся громада одностайно.

22

And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

22

І Мойсей зробив так, як заповів йому Господь. Він узяв Ісуса, поставив його перед священиком Елеазаром і перед усією громадою,

23

And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

23

поклав свої руки на нього і наділив його повноваженнями, як Господь і заповів Мойсеєві.
