Pilate Washes his Hands
When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.

When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this Man’s blood; see to that yourselves.” -
Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. The responsibility is yours!”

And Pilate, seeing that it availed nothing, but that rather a tumult was arising, having taken water, washed his hands before the crowd, saying, I am guiltless of the blood of this righteous one: see *ye* [to it]. -
Пилат, видя, что ничто не помогает, но смятение увеличивается, взял воды и умыл руки перед народом, и сказал: невиновен я в крови Праведника Сего; смотрите вы.

Пилат, бачивши, що нічого не вдіє, а заколот дедалі більшає, взяв води й умив перед народом руки та й каже: “Я невинний крови праведника цього; ви побачите.”

Пилат, побачивши, що він нічого не вдіє, і що натовп може вибухнути невдоволенням, узяв трохи води й умив руки [89] перед народом, мовивши: «Я не винен у Його смерті. Вирішуйте самі!»

І, як побачив Пила́т, що нічо́го не вдіє, а неспо́кій ще більший стається, набрав він води, та й перед народом умив свої руки й сказав: „Я невинний у крові Його! Самі ви побачите“.

Когда Пилат увидел, что ничего не может сделать и что волнение в народе лишь нарастает, он взял воды, вымыл руки перед всем народом и сказал:
— Смотрите сами. Я же не виновен в крови Этого Человека. -
Побачивши, що нічого не вдіє, а заколот дедалі посилюється, Пилат узяв воду, вмив руки перед народом і сказав: Невинний я в крові Цього Праведника! Дивіться самі!
