Do Not Judge

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

1

Не судіть, щоб і вас не судили,

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

бо яким судом судите, таким будуть судити і вас; і якою мірою міряєте, такою буде відміряно і вам.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Чому ж бачиш скалку, що в оці твого брата, а колоди, яка у твоєму оці, не відчуваєш?

4

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Або, як скажеш своєму братові: Дай, витягну скалку з твого ока, коли ось колода у твоєму оці?

5

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Лицеміре, спочатку вийми колоду зі свого ока, а тоді побачиш, як вийняти скалку з ока брата твого.

Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Ask, Seek, Knock

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Адже кожний, хто просить, — отримує, а той, хто шукає, — знаходить; і тому, хто стукає, — відчинять.

Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

Чи ж є з-поміж вас хтось такий, котрий, коли в нього син попросить хліба, подасть йому камінь?

Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

Або, якщо попросить риби, подасть йому гадюку?

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Тож якщо ви, будучи злими, умієте добрі дари давати вашим дітям, то наскільки більше ваш Небесний Отець дасть добра тим, які просять у Нього?

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Отже, усе, що тільки бажаєте, щоби чинили вам люди, те чиніть їм і ви, бо в цьому Закон і Пророки.

The Narrow Gate

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Входьте вузькими ворітьми, бо широкі ті ворота й широка та дорога, що ведуть до загибелі, — і багато є тих, які ними входять,

14

Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

але вузькі ті ворота й тісна та дорога, що ведуть до життя, — і мало є тих, хто їх знаходить.

A Tree and its Fruit

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

15

Стережіться лжепророків, які приходять до вас в овечих шкурах, а всередині — хижі вовки.

16

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

16

За їхніми плодами впізнаєте їх. Хіба збирають виноград з тернини або смокви — з будяків?

17

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

17

Так усяке добре дерево родить добрі плоди, а погане дерево родить погані плоди.

18

A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

18

Не може добре дерево поганих плодів родити, а погане дерево родити добрих плодів.

19

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

19

Кожне дерево, що не родить доброго плоду, зрубують і кидають у вогонь.

20

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

20

Тож за їхніми плодами пізнаєте їх.

21

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

21

Не кожний, хто каже Мені: Господи, Господи! — увійде до Царства Небесного, але той, хто виконує волю Мого Отця, Який на небесах.

22

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Багато хто скаже Мені того дня: Господи, Господи, чи не Твоїм Ім’ям ми пророкували, чи не Твоїм Ім’ям бісів ми виганяли, чи не Твоїм Ім’ям численні чудеса творили?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Тоді скажу їм: Я ніколи не знав вас! Відійдіть від Мене ви, які чините беззаконня!

The House on the Rock

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

Отже, кожний, хто слухає ці Мої слова та виконує їх, буде подібний до чоловіка розумного, який збудував свій дім на скелі;

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

і линув дощ, і ринули ріки, і здійнялися вітри, і обрушилися на той дім, та він не впав, бо був заснований на скелі.

And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

26

А кожний, хто слухає ці Мої слова, та не виконує їх, буде подібний до чоловіка нерозумного, який збудував свій дім на піску;

27

And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

27

і линув дощ, і ринули ріки, і здійнялися вітри, і обрушилися на той дім, і він упав; і великим було падіння його.

The Authority of Jesus

And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

І коли Ісус закінчив промовляти, простий люд дивувався з Його вчення,

For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

29

тому що навчав їх, як Той, Хто має владу, а не як їхні книжники [та фарисеї].
