And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

І припливли вони на протилежний берег озера до землі Ґерасинської.[12]
And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
Тільки-но Ісус зійшов з човна, як назустріч Йому з-за гробниць вийшов чоловік, одержимий нечистим духом.
Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Він жив серед гробниць, і ніхто не міг зв’язати його, навіть ланцюгами. Його часто заковували в кайдани та ланцюги, але він рвав ланцюги й трощив кайдани, і ніхто не міг угамувати його.
Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
Днями й ночами він никав між гробниць в горах, кричав і бив себе камінням.
But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
Помітивши віддалік Ісуса, цей чоловік кинувся до Нього, упав долілиць перед Ним, а потім голосно закричав: «Що Тобі треба від мене, Ісусе, Сину Господа Всевишнього? Богом Тебе заклинаю, не муч мене».
And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
Ісус звелів йому: «Вийди з чоловіка цього, нечистий дух!»
And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
Отже, Ісус запитав його: «Як тебе звати?» А той відповів: «Ім’я мені — Леґіон,[13] бо багато нечистих духів вселилося в мене».
And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
Вони знову і знову благали Ісуса не виганяти їх із тієї землі.
Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
Неподалік на узвишші паслося велике стадо свиней.
And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
Тож духи благали Ісуса: «Пошли нас у свиней, аби ми могли вселитися в них».
And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
Ісус дозволив їм. Тож нечисті духи вийшли з чоловіка і вселилися в свиней. Тоді стадо, в якому налічувалося близько двох тисяч голів, кинулося з крутого берега в озеро й потонуло.
And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
Коли свинопаси, які доглядали за стадом, побачили, що сталося, то побігли геть і розповіли про все по місту й околицях. І люди сходилися, щоб подивитися, що сталося.
And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
Вони прийшли до Ісуса й, побачивши того біснуватого одягненим і при здоровому глузді, дуже злякалися.
And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
Хто бачив, розповіли людям, що трапилося з чоловіком, одержимим нечистими, та про свиней.
And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
І люди почали благати Ісуса залишити їхню землю.
And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
Коли Він сідав у човен, чоловік, який був одержимий нечистим духом, благав Ісуса узяти його з Собою.
Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
Та Ісус відмовив йому, сказавши: «Іди до дому свого, до своїх людей і розкажи, що Господь зробив для тебе і як змилувався над тобою».
And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
Тож він пішов і почав усім у Десятимісті розповідати, як багато Ісус зробив для нього. І всі були вражені тим.
The Healing Touch of Jesus
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

Коли Ісус знову переправився на інший берег, великий натовп зібрався навколо Нього.
And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
Туди ж, на берег озера, прийшов голова синагоги на ймення Яїр. Побачивши Ісуса, він впав долілиць і
And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
звернувся до Нього з благанням: «Донька моя помирає. Прошу тебе: прийди й поклади руки на неї, щоб зцілилася вона і живою зосталася».
And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
Тож Ісус пішов з ним. І величезний натовп рушив за Ним, з усіх сторін щільно оточивши Його.
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
Серед них була жінка, яка вже дванадцять років страждала від кровотечі.
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
Від багатьох лікарів вона натерпілася. Вона витратила на лікування вже все, що мала, але ніякого полегшення не було, навпаки, ставало тільки гірше.
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
Вона чула про Ісуса і тепер підійшла до Нього в натовпі й торкнулася краю Його плаща.
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
Вона казала собі: «Якщо я доторкнуся хоча б до Його одягу, то одужаю».
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
Тієї ж миті кровотеча припинилася, й жінка відчула в тілі своєму, що хвороба залишила її.
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
Але Ісус одразу відчув, що сила вийшла з Нього. Він озирнувся до натовпу й запитав: «Хто торкнувся Мого одягу?»
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
І учні Його відказали Йому: «Ти бачиш, який натовп зусебіч напирає на Тебе, а Ти запитуєш: „Хто доторкнувся до Мене?”»
And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
Та Ісус і далі видивлявся, хто це зробив.
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
Тоді жінка перелякалася, бо знала, що сталося з нею, підійшла до Нього і, впавши долілиць, розповіла Йому всю правду.
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Тоді Він мовив: «Дочко, віра твоя зцілила тебе! Йди з миром і більше ти не будеш страждати від своєї хвороби».
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
Поки Ісус ще говорив, чоловіки прийшли з дому Яїра й сказали йому: «Твоя дочка померла. Навіщо турбувати Учителя?»
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Але до Ісуса долинули ці слова, й Він звернувся до голови синагоги:«Не бійся. Тільки вір».
And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
Ісус нікому не дозволив заходити з Ним, крім Петра, Якова та Іоана, Якового брата.
And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
Коли вони ввійшли до дому голови синагоги, то застали там метушню, плач і голосіння.
And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
Ввійшовши, Ісус мовив до присутніх: «Навіщо плакати і голосити? Вона не померла, а просто спить».
And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
Та люди почали насміхатися з Нього. Ісус випроводив усіх, а Сам узяв батька й матір дитини, а також трьох апостолів, які були з Ним, і ввійшов до кімнати, де лежало дівча.
And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
Ісус узяв її за руку й мовив: «Таліта, кум!» — що означає: «Дівчинко, Я велю тобі, вставай!»
And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
Дівча тут же підвелося й почало ходити по кімнаті (їй було дванадцять років). Батьки дівчинки були приголомшені тим великим дивом.
