And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
А як Він вийшов із човна, зненацька перестрів Його біснуватий чоловік з гробниць.
Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
Жив він у тих гробницях, і ніхто не міг його скувати навіть ланцюгами,
Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
бо часто в’язали його путами й кайданами, та він розривав кайдани і нищив пута, і ніхто не міг його приборкати;
And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
і завжди, вночі та вдень, він перебував у гробницях і в горах, кричав і бився об каміння.
But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
Та коли він здалека побачив Ісуса, то прибіг і поклонився Йому.
And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
І, закричавши гучним голосом, каже: Що Тобі до мене, Ісусе, Сину Бога Всевишнього? Заклинаю Тебе Богом, не муч мене!
For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
Оскільки Він говорив йому: Нечистий духу, вийди з людини!
And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
Ісус запитав його: Яке твоє ім’я? Той каже Йому: Легіон [1] моє ім’я, — бо нас багато!
And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
І дуже благав Його, щоб не виганяв їх із цієї околиці.
Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
Паслося ж там на горі велике стадо свиней.
And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
І просили Його, кажучи: Пошли нас у свиней, щоб у них увійшли ми!
And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
І Він дозволив їм. Тож повиходили нечисті духи, увійшли у свиней, і кинулося стадо — десь зо дві тисячі — з кручі в море та втопилося в морі.
And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
А ті, хто їх пас, втекли й сповістили в місті та в селах. І люди вийшли побачити, що сталося.
And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
І приходять до Ісуса, і бачать, що біснуватий — той, хто мав легіон, — сидить одягнений і при своєму розумі; і вони злякалися.
And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
Розповіли ж їм очевидці, що сталося з біснуватим, і про свиней.
And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
І почали благати Його покинути їхню околицю.
And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
І коли Він сідав у човен, то просив Його біснуватий, щоби бути з Ним.
Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
Та Він йому не дозволив, але сказав йому: Іди до свого дому, до своїх, і сповісти їм, що для тебе Господь зробив, як змилосердився над тобою!
And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
Тож пішов він, та й почав проповідувати в Десятимісті [2] про те, що зробив для нього Ісус, і всі дивувалися.
The Healing Touch of Jesus
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.

А як Ісус переплив човном знову на другий бік, зібрався великий натовп довкола Нього, і Він перебував біля моря.
And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
Прийшов один зі старших синагоги на ім’я Яір і, побачивши Його, упав Йому до ніг
And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
і дуже просив Його, кажучи: Донечка моя помирає. Прийди і поклади на неї руки, щоб видужала й жила!
And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
І Він пішов з ним. За Ним ішов великий натовп і тіснив Його.
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
А жінка, яка страждала від кровотечі дванадцять років
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
та багато натерпілася від численних лікарів, — витратила все своє майно й жодного полегшення не мала, але стало їй ще гірше, —
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
почувши про Ісуса, підійшла в натовпі ззаду й доторкнулася до Його одягу.
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
Вона говорила: Якщо лише доторкнуся до Його одягу, — одужаю!
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
І враз припинилася її кровотеча, і вона відчула в тілі, що видужала від хвороби.
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
Тієї ж миті Ісус відчув у Собі, що сила вийшла з Нього. Обернувшись до натовпу, Він запитав: Хто доторкнувся до Мого одягу?
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
А Його учні говорили Йому: Ти ж бачиш, що натовп Тебе тіснить, і запитуєш: Хто доторкнувся до Мене?
And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
І оглядався, щоби побачити ту, яка це зробила.
But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
А жінка злякалася і тремтіла, знаючи, що сталося з нею; прийшла і впала перед Ним, і сказала Йому всю правду.
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Він же промовив до неї: Дочко, віра твоя спасла тебе! Іди з миром і будь здоровою від своєї недуги.
While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
Коли Він ще говорив, прийшли від старшого синагоги, та й сказали: Донька твоя померла, навіщо ще турбувати Вчителя?
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Ісус, почувши сказані слова, говорить старшому синагоги: Не бійся, тільки вір!
And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
І Він не дозволив, щоби з Ним хтось пішов, за винятком Петра, Якова та Івана — брата Якового.
And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
Вони прийшли в дім старшого синагоги, і Він побачив метушню та тих, які дуже плакали й голосили.
And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
Увійшовши, сказав їм: Чому ви метушитеся й плачете? Дитина не померла, а спить!
And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
І почали сміятися з Нього. Він же, випровадивши всіх, взяв батька й матір дитини та тих, хто був з Ним, і ввійшов туди, де лежала дитина.
And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
І, взявши дитину за руку, промовив до неї: Таліта кум [3] , — що в перекладі означає: Дівчино, кажу тобі, встань!
And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
І вмить підвелася дівчина й почала ходити, бо мала дванадцять років. І жахнулися всі відразу від великого потрясіння.
