The Poor Widow's Offering

And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

Поглянувши ж побачив, як кидали дари свої в скарбону заможні.

And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites.

2

Побачив же й одну вдовицю вбогу, що кидала туди дві лепти.

3

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:

3

І рече: Правдиво глаголю вам, що вдовиця вбога ся більш усїх укинула:

4

For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

4

всї бо ті з достатку свого кидали у дари Божі, ся ж з недостатку свого увесь прожиток свій, що мала, вкинула.

5

Temple Destruction Foretold

And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,

І як деякі говорили про церкву, що каміннєм красним та посьвятами украшена, рече:

6

As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

Із сього, що бачите, прийдуть днї, в котрі не зоставить ся камінь на каменї, щоб не зруйновано.

7

And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?

Питали ж Його, кажучи: Учителю, коли ж се буде? й що за ознака, коли се має стати ся?

8

And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.

8

Він же рече: Гледїть, щоб не були зведені; многі бо прийдуть в імя моє, кажучи: Що се я. А час приближив ся; не йдїть же за ними.

9

But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

9

Як же почуєте про войни та ворохобнї, не полохайтесь; мусить бо перш се статись; тільки ж не зараз конець.

10

Witnessing to All Nations

Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

10

Тодї рече їм: Устане нарід на нарід і царство на царство,

11

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

11

і трус великий по місцях, і голоднеча, й помір буде, й страхи, й ознаки з неба великі будуть.

12

But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

12

Та перш того всього наложать на вас руки свої і гонити муть, видаючи в школи й темницї, і водячи перед царі та ігемони задля імя мого.

13

And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

13

І станеть ся воно вам на сьвідкуваннє.

14

Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:

14

Постановіть же в серцях ваших наперед, не готовитись відказувати:

15

For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

15

я бо дам вам уста й премудрість, котрій не здолїють противитись, анї встояти усї противники ваші.

16

And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

16

Будете ж видавані й від родителїв, і братів, і родини, й приятелїв: і вбивати муть деяких з вас.

17

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

17

І будете ненавиджені від усїх задля імя мого.

18

But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

18

Та й волосина з голови вашої не загине.

19

In your patience possess ye your souls.

19

У терпінню вашому осягнїть душі ваші.

20

The Destruction of Jerusalem

And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

20

Як же побачите, що обгорнуто таборами Єрусалим, тодї знайте, що наближило ся спустїннє його.

21

Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

21

Тодї, хто в Юдеї, нехай біжять у гори; а хто в серединї в йому, нехай виходять; а ті, що по селах, нехай не ввіходять у него.

22

For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

22

Бо се днї мести, щоб справдилось усе написане.

23

But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

23

Горе ж важким і годуючим у ті днї! буде бо біда велика на землї, і гнїв на народї сьому.

24

And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

24

І поляжуть від гострого меча, й позаймані будуть у полонь до всїх поган; і топтати муть Єрусалим погане, доки сповнять ся часи поган.

25

The Return of the Son of Man

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

25

І будуть ознаки на сонцї, й місяцї, й зорях, а на землї переполох народів у заколотї; як зареве море та филї.

26

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

26

І омертвіють люде від страху та дожидання того, що прийде на вселенну: сили бо небесні захитають ся.

27

And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

27

І тодї побачять Сина чоловічого, йдучого на хмарі з силою і славою великою.

28

And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

28

Як же зачне се дїятись, випростуйтесь і підіймайте голови ваші; бо наближилось викупленнє ваше.

29

The lesson of the Fig Tree

And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;

29

І сказав приповість їм: Бачте смоківницю і всякі дерева:

30

When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

30

Як розпукують ся вже, бачивши самі розумієте, що вже близько лїто.

31

So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

31

Так і ви, коли побачите, як се станеть ся, знайте, що близько царство Боже.

32

Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

32

Істино глаголю вам: Ще не перейде рід сей, доки все станеть ся.

33

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

33

Небо й земля перейде, слова ж мої не перейдуть.

34

Be Watchful

And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

Остерегайте ся ж, щоб часом не обтягчились ваші серця прожорством, та пянством, та журбою життя сього, й щоб несподївано на вас не настиг день той.

35

For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

35

Бо, як сїтка, впаде на всїх, що живуть на лицї всієї землї.

36

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

36

Пильнуйте, по всяк час молячись, щоб удостоїли ся втекти від того всього, що має статись, і станути перед Сином чоловічим.

37

And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

37

Навчав же днями в церкві, ночами ж виходячи, пробував на горі, званій Оливною.

38

And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.

38

Усї ж люде сходились рано до Него в церкву слухати Його.
