There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.
Там Йому влаштували вечерю, а Марта обслуговувала. Лазар був одним із тих, хто був з Ним при столі.
Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.
Марія, взявши літру [1] мира зі справжнього дорогоцінного нарду [2] , помазала Ісусові ноги й своїм волоссям обтерла їх. Дім наповнився запахом мира.
Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him,

Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?
Чому б не продати це миро за триста динаріїв [3] і не роздати бідним?
This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
Він сказав це не тому, що турбувався про бідних, але тому, що був злодієм і, маючи скриньку на гроші, носив те, що вкидали.
Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
А Ісус сказав: Облиш її, це вона на день Мого похорону зберегла:
For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

The Plot to Kill Lazarus
Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

Багато юдеїв довідалося, що Він там, і прийшли не тільки задля Ісуса, а й щоби побачити Лазаря, якого Він воскресив із мертвих.
But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
Тож первосвященики змовилися, щоб і Лазаря вбити,
Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.
бо через нього багато хто відходив від юдеїв і починав вірити в Ісуса.
The Triumphal Entry
On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

Вони взяли віття пальм, вийшли назустріч Йому і вигукували, [промовляючи]: Осанна! Благословенний, Хто йде в Ім’я Господнє! Цар Ізраїлю!
And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written,
А Ісус, знайшовши осля, сів на нього, — згідно з написаним:
Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an ass's colt.
Не бійся, дочко Сіонська! Ось Цар твій іде, сидячи на молодому ослі.
These things understood not his disciples at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
Його учні спочатку не зрозуміли цього. Але коли Ісус був прославлений, тоді згадали, що це було про Нього написано, і це Йому зробили.
The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.
Свідчили люди, які були з Ним, коли Він викликав Лазаря з гробу і воскресив його з мертвих.
For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
Тому і зустрів Його натовп, бо почув, що Він зробив це чудо.
The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone after him.
А фарисеї гомоніли між собою: Дивіться, нічого не вдієте: ось увесь світ пішов за Ним!
Jesus Predicts His Death
And there were certain Greeks among them that came up to worship at the feast:

The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
Вони підійшли до Филипа, який був з Витсаїди Галилейської, і просили його, кажучи: Пане, ми хочемо бачити Ісуса!
Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: and again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.

And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.
А Ісус сказав їм у відповідь: Прийшов час прославитися Синові Людському.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Знову й знову запевняю вас: якщо зерно пшениці, упавши на землю, не вмре, воно залишиться одне. Якщо ж умре, — принесе великий урожай.
He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.
Хто любить душу свою, той погубить її; хто ж ненавидить душу свою в цьому світі, той збереже її для вічного життя.
If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
Якщо хто Мені служить, нехай іде за Мною, і де Я, там буде і Мій слуга. Якщо хто Мені служить, того пошанує [Мій] Отець.
Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
Нині душа Моя стривожена. І що Я скажу? Отче, спаси Мене від цієї години! Але ж задля цього Я і прийшов — на цю годину.
Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
Отче, прослав Своє Ім’я! Почувся тоді голос із неба: І прославив Я, і знову прославлю!
The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
А люди, які стояли й чули це, говорили: То був грім. Інші казали: То ангел до Нього заговорив.
Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
У відповідь Ісус сказав: Не для Мене був цей голос, а для вас.
Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
Нині настав суд цьому світові; нині князь цього світу буде вигнаний геть.
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
Якщо Я буду піднятий від землі, то притягну всіх до Себе!
This he said, signifying what death he should die.
Він говорив це, зазначаючи, якою смертю мав померти.
The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
А з юрби Йому відповіли: Ми чули із Закону, що Христос перебуває вічно, а Ти кажеш, що Син Людський має бути піднятий. Хто Цей Син Людський?
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
Тоді Ісус сказав їм: Ще деякий час Світло є між вами. Ходіть, доки маєте Світло, щоб вас не огорнула темрява, а хто ходить у темряві, не знає, куди йде.
While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.
Доки маєте Світло, вірте у Світло, щоб ви стали синами Світла! Сказавши це, Ісус скрився і відійшов від них.
The Unbelief of the People
But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
щоби сповнилося слово пророка Ісаї, яке він сказав: Господи, хто повірив нашій вістці? І кому відкрилася Господня правиця?
Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
Вони не могли вірити ще й тому, що, як казав Ісая:
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Засліпив їхні очі, зробив кам’яними їхні серця, аби вони не побачили очима, не зрозуміли серцем і не навернулися, щоб Я оздоровив їх!
These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
Це сказав Ісая, коли побачив славу Його і сповістив про Нього.
Some Believe in Jesus
Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

Усе ж таки багато зі старших повірило в Нього, але через фарисеїв вони не зізнавалися, щоб їх не вигнали із синагоги;
For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
вони бо полюбили людську славу більше, ніж славу Божу.
Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.
Тож Ісус гучним голосом сказав: Хто вірить у Мене, той вірить не в Мене, а в Того, Хто послав Мене!
And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
І хто бачить Мене, той бачить Того, Хто послав Мене.
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
Я — Світло, яке прийшло у світ, щоб кожний, хто вірить у Мене, не перебував у темряві.
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
Якщо хто почує Мої слова і не зберігатиме, Я його не суджу, бо Я не прийшов, аби судити світ, але щоб спасти світ.
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
Хто відрікається від Мене і не приймає Моїх слів, той має свого суддю: слово, яке Я сказав, — воно судитиме його останнього дня.
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
Бо не від Себе Я говорив, а Отець, Який послав Мене, це Він дав Мені заповідь, що маю сказати і що говорити.
