The Feeding of the Five Thousand
After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

Після того Ісус перейшов на той бік Галілейського чи Тіверія́дського моря.
And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
А за Ним ішла бе́зліч народу, бо бачили чу́да Його, що чинив над недужими.
And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
Ісус же на го́ру зійшов, і сидів там зо Своїми учнями.
When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
А Ісус, звівши очі Свої та побачивши, яка бе́зліч наро́ду до Нього йде, говорить Пилипові: „Де́ ми купимо хліба, щоб вони поживи́лись?“
And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
Він же це говорив, його випробо́вуючи, бо знав Сам, що́ Він має робити.
Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
Пилип Йому відповідь дав: „І за двісті дина́ріїв їм хліба не стане, щоб кожен із них бодай тро́хи дістав“.
One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
Говорить до Нього Андрій, один з учнів Його, брат Си́мона Петра:
There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
„Є тут хлопчи́на один, що має п'ять я́чних хлібів та дві рибі, але що́ то на бе́зліч таку!“
And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
А Ісус відказав: „Скажіть лю́дям сідати!“ А була на тім місці велика трава. І засіло чоловіка числом із п'ять тисяч.
And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
А Ісус узяв хліби́, і, подяку вчинивши, роздав тим, хто сидів. Так само і з риб, скільки хотіли вони.
When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
І, як наїлись вони, Він говорить до учнів Своїх: „Позбирайте куски позоста́лі, щоб ніщо не загинуло“.
Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
І зібрали вони. І дванадцять повних кошів наклали кусків, що лишились їдця́м із п'яти я́чних хлібів.
Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
А люди, що бачили чудо, яке Ісус учинив, гомоніли: „Це Той справді Пророк, що повинен прибути на світ!“
When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
Спостерігши ж Ісус, що вони мають за́мір прийти та забрати Його, щоб настанови́ти царем, знов на го́ру пішов Сам один.
Jesus Walks on Water
And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
А як вечір настав, то зійшли Його учні над море.
And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
І, ввійшовши до чо́вна, на другий бік моря вони попливли́, до Капернау́му. І те́мрява вже наступила була́, а Ісус ще до них не прихо́див.
And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
Від великого ж вітру, що віяв, хвилюва́лося море.
So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
Як вони ж пропливли́ стадій із двадцять п'ять або з тридцять, то Ісуса побачили, що йде Він по морю, і до чо́вна зближається, — і їх страх обгорну́в.
Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.
І хотіли вони взяти до чо́вна Його; та чо́вен зараз пристав до землі, до якої пливли́.
The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
А наступного дня той наро́д, що на тім боці моря стояв, побачив, що там іншого чо́вна, крім одно́го того́, що до нього ввійшли були учні Його, не було́, і що до чо́вна не вхо́див Ісус із Своїми учнями, але відпливли́ самі учні.
(Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)
А тим ча́сом із Тіверія́ди припливли́ човни́ інші близько до місця того, де вони їли хліб, як Господь учинив був подяку.
When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
Отож, як побачили люди, що Ісуса та учнів Його там нема, то в човни́ посідали самі й прибули́ до Капернауму, — і шукали Ісуса.
And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
І, на тім боці моря знайшовши Його, сказали Йому: „Коли Ти прибув сюди, Учителю?“
Jesus the Bread of Life
Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

Відповів їм Ісус і сказав: „Поправді, поправці кажу́ вам: Мене не тому ви шукаєте, що бачили чуда, а що їли з хлібів і наси́тились.
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Пильнуйте не про пожи́ву, що гине, але про поживу, що зостається на вічне життя, яку дасть нам Син Лю́дський, бо запечатав Його Бог Отець“.
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Сказали ж до Нього вони: „Що́ ми маємо почати, щоб роби́ти діла Божі?“
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
Ісус відповів і сказав їм: „Оце діло Боже, — щоб у Того ви вірували, Кого Він послав“.
They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
А вони відказали Йому: „Яке ж знаме́но Ти чиниш, щоб побачили ми й поняли́ Тобі віри? Що Ти робиш?“
Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Наші отці́ їли ма́нну в пустині, як написано: „Хліб із неба їм дав на поживу“.
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
А Ісус їм сказав: „Поправді, поправді кажу́ вам: Не Мойсей хліб із неба вам дав, — Мій Отець дає вам хліб правдивий із неба.
For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
Бо хліб Божий є Той, Хто сходить із неба й дає життя світові“.
Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
А вони відказали до Нього: „Давай, Господи, хліба такого нам за́вжди!“
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
Ісус же сказав їм: „Я — хліб життя. Хто до Мене прихо́дить, — не голодува́тиме він, а хто вірує в Мене, — ніко́ли не пра́гнутиме.
But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
Але Я вам сказав, що Мене хоч ви й бачили, та не віруєте.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Усе при́йде до Мене, що Отець дає Мені, а того, хто до Мене приходить, Я не вижену геть.
For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
Бо Я з неба зійшов не на те, щоб волю чинити Свою, але волю Того, Хто послав Мене.
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
Оце ж воля Того, Хто послав Мене, — щоб з усього, що дав Мені Він, Я нічого не стратив, але воскреси́в те останнього дня.
And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Оце ж воля Мого Отця, — щоб усякий, хто Сина бачить та вірує в Нього, мав вічне життя, — і того воскрешу́ Я останнього дня“.
The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
Тоді стали юдеї ре́мствувати на Нього, що сказав: „Я той хліб, що з неба зійшов“.
And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
І казали вони: „Хіба Він не Ісус, син Йо́сипів, що ми знаємо батька та матір Його? Як же Він каже: Я з неба зійшов?“
Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
А Ісус відповів і промовив до них: „Не ремствуйте ви між собою!
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Ніхто бо не може до Мене прийти, як Отець, що послав Мене, не притягне його, — і того воскрешу́ Я останнього дня.
It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
У Пророків написано: „І всі бу́дуть від Бога навче́ні.“ Кожен, хто від Бога почув і навчився, приходить до Мене.
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
Це не значить, щоб хтось Отця бачив, — тільки Той Отця бачив, Хто походить від Бога.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
Поправді, поправді кажу́ Вам: Хто вірує в Мене, — життя вічне той має.
Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
Отці ваші в пустині їли манну, — і померли.
This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
То є хліб, Який сходить із неба, — щоб не вмер, хто Його споживає.
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
Я — хліб живий, що з неба зійшов: коли хто споживатиме хліб цей, той повік буде жити. А хліб, що дам Я, то є тіло Моє, яке Я за життя світу дам“.
The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
Тоді між собою змагатися стали юдеї, говорячи: „Як же Він може дати нам тіла спожити?“
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
І сказав їм Ісус: „Поправді, поправді кажу вам: Якщо ви споживати не будете тіла Сина Лю́дського й пити не будете крови Його, то в собі ви не будете мати життя.
Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Хто тіло Моє споживає та кров Мою п'є, той має вічне життя, — і того воскрешу́ Я останнього дня.
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
Бо тіло Моє — то правдиво пожива, Моя ж кров — то правдиво пиття.
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
Хто тіло Моє споживає та кров Мою п'є, той в Мені перебува́є, а Я в ньому.
As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
Як Живий Отець послав Мене, і живу Я Отцем, так і той, хто Мене споживає, і він житиме Мною.
This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
То є хліб, що з неба зійшов. Не як ваші отці їли ма́нну й померли, — хто цей хліб споживає, той жити буде пові́к!“
These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
Оце Він говорив, коли в Капернаумі навчав у синагозі.
Many Disciples Turn Away
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

А багато-хто з учнів Його, як почули оце, гомоніли: „Жорстока це мова! Хто́ слухати може її?“
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
А Ісус, Сам у Собі знавши це, що учні Його на те ре́мствують, промовив до них: „Чи оце вас споку́шує?
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
А що ж, як побачите Лю́дського Сина, що сходить туди, де перше Він був?
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
То Дух, що ожи́влює, тіло ж не помагає нічого. Слова́, що їх Я говорив вам, то дух і життя.
But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
Але є дехто з вас, хто не вірує“. Бо Ісус знав споча́тку, хто ті, хто не вірує, і хто видасть Його.
And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
І сказав Він: „Я тому́ й говорив вам, що до Мене прибути не може ніхто, як не буде йому від Отця да́не те“.
Peter's Confession of Faith
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Із того ча́су відпали багато-хто з учнів Його, і не ходили вже з Ним.
Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
І сказав Ісус Дванадцятьо́м: „Чи не хочете й ви́ відійти?“
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
Відповів Йому Си́мон Петро: „До ко́го ми пі́демо, Господи? Ти маєш слова́ життя вічного.
And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Ми ж увірували та пізнали, що Ти — Христос, Син Бога Живого!“
Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
Відповів їм Ісус: „Чи не Дванадцятьо́х Я вас вибрав? Та один із вас дия́вол“.
