Jesus Teaches at the Feast

After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at hand.

А наближалося юдейське свято Кучок.

His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.

3

І сказали Ісусові Його брати: Вийди звідси й піди до Юдеї, щоб і Твої учні побачили діла, які Ти робиш.

4

For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.

Адже ніхто такого не робить таємно, але сам шукає, як стати відомим. Якщо робиш таке, то вияви Себе світові!

For neither did his brethren believe in him.

5

Оскільки і Його брати не вірили в Нього.

Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

6

На це Ісус сказав їм: Мій час ще не настав, але ваш час завжди готовий.

7

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

7

Світ не може вас ненавидіти. Мене ж він ненавидить, бо Я свідчу про нього, що його діла лихі.

8

Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.

8

Ідіть на свято; Я не йду на це свято, бо Мій час ще не сповнився!

When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

9

Сказавши це, Він залишився в Галилеї Сам.

But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

10

Коли ж Його брати пішли на свято, то й Він пішов, але не явно, а наче таємно.

11

Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

11

Тож юдеї розшукували Його під час свята й запитували: Де Він?

12

And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

12

І була щодо Нього велика суперечка між людьми. Деякі казали, що Він добрий; інші ж казали, що ні, — Він обманює народ.

13

Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.

13

Та відкрито ніхто не говорив про Нього, бо боялися юдеїв.

14

Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

14

Посередині свята Ісус увійшов до храму й почав навчати.

15

And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

15

Тому дивувалися юдеї, кажучи: Як Він знає Писання, хоч не вчився?

16

Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

16

Тоді у відповідь Ісус їм сказав: Моя наука — не Моя, але Того, Хто Мене послав.

17

If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

17

Якщо хто хоче чинити Його волю, той пізнає вчення, чи воно від Бога, чи Я говорю від Себе.

18

He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

18

Хто говорить від себе самого, той шукає власної слави, а Хто шукає слави для Того, Хто послав Його, Той правдивий, і немає в Ньому неправди.

19

Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

19

Чи не Мойсей дав вам Закон? А ніхто з вас не виконує Закону. Чому ж ви Мене хочете вбити?

20

The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

20

Натовп відповів [і сказав]: Біса маєш! Хто Тебе хоче вбити?

21

Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.

21

У відповідь Ісус сказав їм: Одне діло зробив Я, — і ви всі дивуєтеся.

22

Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.

22

Мойсей заповідав вам обрізатися не тому, що воно від Мойсея, але тому, що воно від батьків, і ви в суботу обрізуєте людину.

23

If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

Якщо чоловік приймає обрізання в суботу, щоб не був порушений Закон Мойсея, то чого ж ви палаєте на Мене гнівом, що Я зробив здоровою в суботу всю людину?

24

Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

24

Не судіть за зовнішнім виглядом, але судіть справедливим судом!

25

Is Jesus the Messiah?

Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

25

Тоді деякі жителі Єрусалима почали говорити: Хіба це не Той, Кого хочуть убити?

26

But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

26

І ось, Він говорить відкрито і нічого Йому не кажуть. Чи справді впевнилися старші, що Він Христос?

27

Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.

27

Але ж ми знаємо, звідки Він; коли ж прийде Христос, ніхто не знатиме, звідки Він.

28

Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

28

Тоді Ісус, навчаючи й розповідаючи в храмі, голосно промовив: І Мене знаєте, і звідки Я, ви знаєте; Я не прийшов від Себе, але правдивим є Той, Хто послав Мене, Котрого ви не знаєте.

29

But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

29

Я ж Його знаю, бо Я від Нього, і Він Мене послав!

30

Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

30

Тому вони намагалися схопити Його, але ніхто не наклав на Нього рук, бо ще не настав Його час.

31

And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

31

Багато людей повірили в Нього і казали: Коли прийде Христос, хіба Він буде робити більші чудеса від тих, які Цей зробив?

32

The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

32

Почули фарисеї, що юрба гомоніла таке про Нього. І послали фарисеї та первосвященики своїх слуг, щоб вони схопили Його.

33

Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

33

Тому сказав Ісус: Ще короткий час буду з вами, та й піду до Того, Хто послав Мене.

34

Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.

34

Будете шукати Мене — і не знайдете; і де Я буду, ви туди не зможете прийти!

35

Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

35

Міркували між собою юдеї: Куди це Він хоче йти, що ми не знайдемо Його? Чи до розсіяних між греками хоче йти, та й греків навчати?

36

What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

36

Що то за слово Він сказав: Будете шукати Мене — і не знайдете; і де Я буду, ви туди не зможете прийти?

37

Living Water

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

37

Останнього великого дня свята Ісус стояв і закликав, кажучи: Якщо хто спраглий, нехай приходить до Мене і п’є.

38

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

38

Хто вірить у Мене, як каже Писання, ріки живої води з нутра його потечуть.

39

(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

39

Це Він сказав про Духа, Якого мали одержати ті, котрі повірили в Нього. Але Духа ще не було, бо Ісус ще не був прославлений.

Division of People over Jesus

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

[Багато хто] з народу, почувши ці слова, міркував: Це справді Пророк!

41

Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?

41

Інші твердили: Це Христос! Ще інші говорили: Хіба з Галилеї прийде Христос?

42

Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

42

Хіба в Писанні не сказано, що Христос прийде з нащадків Давида, з Вифлеєма — села, звідки був Давид?

43

So there was a division among the people because of him.

43

Тож через Нього в народі постала незгода.

44

And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.

44

Деякі ж з них хотіли схопити Його, але ніхто не накладав на Нього рук.

Unbelief of the Jewish Leaders

Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?

45

Отже, слуги повернулися до первосвящеників і фарисеїв, а ті дорікали їм: Чому ви не привели Його?

46

The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

46

Слуги відповіли: Ніколи ще жодна людина не говорила так, [як Цей Чоловік].

47

Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?

47

Тоді фарисеї їм відповіли: Чи й ви також обмануті?

48

Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?

48

Хіба хтось зі старших чи з фарисеїв повірив у Нього?

49

But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

49

Але цей народ, який не знає Закону, — проклятий він!

50

Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)

50

Каже їм Никодим, який приходив до Нього раніше і був одним із них:

51

Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?

51

Хіба судить наш Закон людину, не вислухавши її спочатку і не дізнавшись, що вона робить?

52

They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.

52

Та вони у відповідь сказали йому: А ти часом не з Галилеї? Досліди і побачиш, що пророк не приходить з Галилеї!

53

And every man went unto his own house.

53

І розійшлися всі по своїх домах.
