Paul's Ministry in Corinth

After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;

Після цього він вийшов з Ате́н і прибув до Кори́нту.

And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

І знайшов він одного юде́я, на йме́ння Аки́лу, родом із По́нту, що недавно прибув із Італії, та Приски́ллу, його дружи́ну, — бо Кла́вдій звелів усім юдеям, щоб покинули Рим. І до них він прийшов,

And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

а що був він того ж ремесла́, то в них позостався та працював; ремесло́ ж їхнє було — виробляти наме́ти.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

І він щосуботи розмову точив у синагозі, переконуючи юдеїв та ге́лленів.

And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

А коли прибули́ Сила та Тимофій з Македонії, Павло слову віддався, і він свідчив юдеям, що Ісус — то Христос.

And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles.

Як вони ж спротивля́лися та богозневажа́ли, то він обтрусив одежу свою та промовив до них: „Ваша кров — на голову вашу! Я чистий. Відтепе́р я піду́ до поган“.

And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man's house, named Justus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

І, вийшовши звідти, він прибув до госпо́ди одно́го, на ім'я Тита Юста, що був богобійний, його ж дім межува́в із синагогою.

And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.

А Крисп, старши́й синагоги, увірував в Господа з усім домом своїм; і багато з кори́нтян, почувши, увірували й охристились.

Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

Сказав же Павло́ві Госпо́дь у видінні вночі: „Не бійся, але говори й не мовчи,

10

For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

10

бо з тобою ось Я, і на тебе ніхто не накинеться, щоб тобі заподі́яти зло, — бо Я маю в цім місті багато людей“.

11

And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

І позостався він рік і шість місяців, навчаючи в них Сло́ва Божого.

Paul Before Gallio

And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

А коли Галліо́н був в Аха́ї проко́нсулом, то проти Павла́ однодушно повстали юдеї, і на суд привели́ його,

13

Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

13

кажучи: „Цей людей намовляє, щоб Богові честь віддавали незгідно з Зако́ном!“

And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:

Як Павло ж хотів у́ста відкрити, сказав Галліо́н до юдеїв: „О юдеї, якби сталася кривда яка, або злий учинок, то я б справедливо вас вислухав.

15

But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

15

Та коли спір іде про слово та йме́ння й Зако́н ваш, то самі́ доглядайте, — я суддею цього бути не хо́чу“.

And he drave them from the judgment seat.

I прогнав їх від су́ду.

Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

Тоді́ всі схопи́ли Состе́на, начальника над синагогою, та й перед судо́м його били. Галліо́н же на те зовсі́м не зважав.

Paul Returns to Antioch

And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

А Павло́, перебувши доволі ще днів, попрощався з братами, і попли́нув у Си́рію, і з ним Приски́лла й Аки́ла; він у Кенхре́ях обстриг собі голову, бо обі́тницю дав був.

19

And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

19

І прибув він в Ефе́с, і там їх позоста́вив, а сам у синагогу ввійшов і розмовляв із юде́ями.

20

When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

20

Як просили ж його довший час позостатися в них, то він не згодився,

21

But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

21

але попрощався й сказав: „Знов вернуся до вас, коли буде на те воля Божа!“ І відплив із Ефе́су.

22

And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.

22

І, побувши в Кесарі́ї, він підня́вся, і, привіт склавши Церкві, відбув в Антіохі́ю.

Paul's Third Missionary Journey

And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

23

І, пробувши там деякий час, він вибрався в подорож знову, за поря́дком прохо́дячи через країну гала́тську та Фріґію, та всіх учнів зміцняючи.

24

And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

Один же юдей, на ім'я́ Аполло́с, родом з Олександрі́ї, красномо́вець та сильний в Писа́нні, прибув до Ефе́су.

25

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

Він був навче́ний дороги Господньої, і, пала́ючи духом, промовляв і про Господа пильно навчав, знаючи тільки Іванове хрищення.

26

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

І він сміливо став промовляти в синагозі. Як Аки́ла й Приски́лла почули його, то його прийняли́, і докладніш розповіли́ йому про дорогу Господню.

27

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

А коли він схотів перейти до Аха́ї, брати написали до учнів, нагадуючи, щоб його прийняли́. А прибувши, помагав він багато тим, хто ввірував благода́ттю,

28

For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

28

бо він переконував пильно юдеїв, Писа́нням прилюдно дово́дячи, що Ісус — то Христос.
