Paul's Trial Before Festus
Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.

А Фест, перебравши владу, через три дні прийшов з Кесарії до Єрусалима.
Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
Первосвященики та провідники юдеїв поскаржилися йому на Павла і благали його,
And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
ласкаво просячи, щоби прислав його в Єрусалим, а самі готували засідку, аби вбити його по дорозі.
But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
Фест же сказав, щоб стерегли Павла в Кесарії, оскільки він сам мав незабаром туди піти.
Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
Отже, — сказав він, — ті з вас, хто може, хай ідуть зі мною, і якщо є якесь порушення в [цьому] чоловікові, хай звинувачують його!
And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
Пробувши в них не більше як вісім або десять днів, повернувся до Кесарії; наступного дня, сівши на місце судді, наказав привести Павла.
And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
Коли його привели, оточили його ті юдеї, котрі прийшли з Єрусалима, висуваючи багато тяжких звинувачень, яких не могли довести.
While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
Павло ж захищався: Я нічим не згрішив ні проти юдейського Закону, ні проти храму, ні проти кесаря!
But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
Тоді Фест, бажаючи догодити юдеям, промовив Павлові у відповідь: Чи ти хочеш піти в Єрусалим і там щодо цього суд від мене прийняти?
Paul Appeals to Caesar
Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar's judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.

А Павло сказав: Я стою перед судом кесаря, де мені належить суд прийняти. Юдеїв нічим я не скривдив, і ти це добре знаєш.
For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
Якщо ж кривду або щось варте смерті я вчинив, то не відмовляюся вмерти. Якщо ж немає нічого того, у чому вони мене звинувачують, ніхто мене не може їм видати. Покликаюся на кесаря!
Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.
Тоді Фест, порозмовлявши з радниками, відповів: Ти покликався на кесаря, то й підеш до кесаря!
Festus Consults King Agrippa
And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.

And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
Через те, що перебували там чимало днів, Фест розповів цареві про Павла, кажучи: Є один чоловік, в’язень, залишений Феліксом,
About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
на якого, коли я був у Єрусалимі, первосвященики і юдейські старші подали скаргу, домагаючись його засудження.
To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
Я відповів їм, що в римлян немає звичаю видавати якусь людину [на страту], поки обвинувачений не має перед собою тих, які його звинувачують, і не матиме змоги боронитися від звинувачень.
Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.
Коли ж вони тут зійшлися, я без жодної затримки наступного ж дня сів на місце судді й наказав привести чоловіка.
Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
Обступивши його, обвинувачі не вказали жодної провини з тих, про які я підозрював,
But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
а мали з ним якісь суперечки про свої забобони і про Якогось померлого Ісуса, про Якого Павло запевняв, що Він живий.
And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
Розгубившись у цьому питанні, я сказав, чи не хоче він піти в Єрусалим і там судитися щодо цього.
But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.
Оскільки Павло вимагав, щоби його залишили на розсуд Августа, то я наказав охороняти його, доки не відішлю його до кесаря.
Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
Агрипа ж промовив до Феста: Хотів би я і сам того чоловіка послухати. [Той же] сказав: Завтра почуєш його.

And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus' commandment Paul was brought forth.

А наступного дня прийшли Агрипа й Верніка з великою пишнотою і ввійшли до судової зали разом із тисяцькими та знатними мужами міста. Коли наказав Фест, привели Павла.
And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
І каже Фест: Агрипо, царю, і всі мужі, які прийшли з нами! Ви бачите того, за кого настирливо просила мене вся юдейська громада і в Єрусалимі, і тут, викрикуючи, що не належить йому більше жити.
But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
Я ж, довідавшись, що нічого вартого смерті він не зробив, та й сам він покликався на кесаря, тож я вирішив послати його.
Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
Не маю нічого певного написати про нього володареві, тому привів я його до вас, особливо до тебе, Агрипо, царю, щоб як розпитаєш його, мав що написати.
